Finally, as I mentioned, I went and robbed some parts I have been hoarding off my old motor. Particularly the hard fuel line that was missing on this 1974. I paid Spector $100 for the one on Patina. I know not to toss this stuff now.

I was looking for a heater bung. The one on the 1968 looks like crap so I have to order one.

I never noticed this awesome hard vacuum line that connects the dizzy and carburetor. Too cool. I was able to get it off in tact too.

Bottle Cap oil cap.

Awesome old valve cover. Garage art and useful parts. Love it. Only 5 mosquito bites.......

I got a couple of hours on this when I got home from work tonight....sadly, no parts came in. I have a couple of big @beno boxes coming in tomorrow. OEM wheels that I can paint so they will be ready for tries next week. This thing is going to look like a different vehicle with these s***ty wheels and tires gone. I can't wait.

So, as I said yesterday, even with all the Kroil and break free the bolt in the thermostat housing popped right off. Luckily I had the ones I pulled off my 68 F motor. I polished them up and removed the old one from the head.

This water pump is killing me but it was working so I am moving on. I hit it with a flap disc and made it a little better.

This alternator mount made for a lot of fun getting the thermo housing off. It had to be completely removed. Of course I did not to a before photo so it was like putting a damn puzzle back together. Total OEM cluster-F if this is a stock setup. No telling....but man. I got it.

Lastly, I installed some Jim C air rail plugs to replace the pinched off crap that was on there.

I got a little time on the 40 today after work. Sadly, only one box of goodies arrived in the mail. @Cruiser Corps got me the corner badges and gaskets. I spent more time digging around for the tiny 6mm nuts since they never come with any. I really, really need to buy a bag of them

IMG_9821-X2.jpg

Since I have tons of parts on order to rehab the engine bay, I decided to go ahead and pull all the hoses and the one belt. The PO has a tiny thin belt on that barely worked. I dug around in my stash and found the right one (used) and made sure @beno is sending me the correct one.

I got the electric fuel pump out and then the old manual pump. I have a new Manual pump, OEM toyota oil filter and PCV and bushing ordered. As you can see by the coloring on all the metal, the rust protection has set up nicely. I also patched the fender.

IMG_9822-X2.jpg

I drained the radiator and flushed it. I think it is good. I am trying not to have to buy one. I never really got the truck hot so I can't tell if it has any pinholes but I got the water and crap out of it. It is truly amazing to me that people run straight water in their trucks. It freezes here. Stupid.

IMG_9825-X2.jpg

If you have any pinholes, bring it to me.

I got 3 BIG Beno boxes today. 5 big items and a few small items. I got them all painted up and ready for rubber next week.

Rustoleum Smoke Gray

Stuck the painted bezel and the painted grill back on. Still waiting on the TOYOTA

Heater Valve.....

Lots of parts will stack up while I am out of town. Looking forward to getting this thing up and running.

UPS came late.

The truck had a big hole in the fender from the ball antenae mount so I filled the hole up with some 1970s awesome.

The new owner wanted some mats for the floor. I could not stomach the OEM copy price so I grabbed a set from @Cruiser Corps

Im my humble opinion........nothing. NOTHING makes an FJ-40 look better than putting the OEM wheels and some 33" KM2's on it.

From this.......

To this......

Bezel UN-Chromed......

Year correct turn signals.......

New TOYOTA emblem on black grill.....

Transforming. Love it.

A few more shots.....thanks to @wct49 at the 49Tire Pro's in Richland MS for putting my KM2's on this morning while I was at work.

They completely transformed this 40 IMO

I got another BIG @beno box today. When the new OEM fuel tank hits the ground, the fuel delivery system will go in.

Lots of sweet parts on this table.......

IMG_0157-X2.jpg

The holes from taking the diamond plate off were making me a bit crazy so I ordered a pile of button head screws and plugged them all up. Before.....

After.....

Someone removed all 6 of the footman's loops off the tub. I need 5 .... I have one. They are wider than Heep loops. Need some.

Finally, I have all the weatherstripping installed on the tub from @Racer65

This is scientific fact. Biblical too.

Solid rig. Minimal investment to resurrect a great 40.

Dude got a steal on this thing.

Minimal.......maybe. Depends on the buyer. I have only used the best parts because the buyer said to do it like I would do mine.

I have spent about $5500 in parts (including tires) and I have 32 hours of real labor in this thing.

FJ-40's are expensive.

I think all of the parts are purchased. It's just labor now to put it all back together.

Thanks for the follow Carson .

That is still minimal investment to get into the FJ40 game, as you and I both know. I'd have bought it if I had the damn space.

I have been able to put a couple hours each night the last couple days on the 40.

It's fun to have all the parts in place for the rebuild.......

Check out this jewel. I pulled the original tank out and was on the fence on keeping it. It's a big ticket item but with the new fuel lines, filter, pump and carburetor will be perfect for the owner who will park it for long periods. I just need to make sure he knows to use non-ethanol gas........

IMG_0194-X2.jpg

It is amazing these things are still being made. Works of art........

IMG_0193-X2.jpg

OEM Hoses and hose clamps. I also used a new hose/heater junction from a later model FJ-40

IMG_0221-X2.jpg

I added a F fan shroud that I purchased from @MScruiser

It's going to be real nice but if you ever need to change the belt all of it has to come out. Its tight in there.....

IMG_0220-X2.jpg

Since the owner is a big duck hunter, he wants to be able to move his boat around the property with this 40 so he got a nice new receiver hitch
