If you have the time, do it yourself. I followed a video of a guy building a cj, really tedious/pretty straight forward. Covid hit and I jumped I , so that was my excuse.
Went the opposite direction on my harness a year ago. Intended to sort out the GM harness when we upgraded to the TBI 5.7. After about a half hour cross-legged on the floor sorting through the spider web my compadre said “how much was that Painless harness?” A couple of days later it arrived. Less than an hour later and with one call to the service line we were listening to the new engine purr. I think we had to change one connector and discard one wire. Bonus was fresh wiring throughout the whole system.
Forge ahead if you enjoy the challenge and don’t put too much value on your time. Not worth it to me. Less than 300 miles later we were on the road to the Pig Party with nary a burp. Only issue since has been the burned plug wire near Wendover. (Well, there was that necessary recovery pull after following a certain black Pig into that mud flat!)

Got a little bit done yesterday. The rebuild kit showed up. The motor is completely stripped and used a few bottles of degreaser and wire brushed every nook and cranny(not the cylinders). Took the pressure washer to it after.
The passenger frame is all welded up so I am ready for the towers. Bought a dustless sand blaster attachment and want to hit the whole engine bay and frame. We are wheeling the pig outside to blast and I have to do it before we cut all the old suspension off.

Stock replacement for the 2500 trucks. I was looking at RV cams and all that jazz but they want a lot money for them. I found a stock cam and lifters for half of what they want just for a hotter cam. Considering I didn't think I'd have to go this far in to the rabbit hole for this motor i am pinching pennies here and there.
At the father-in-law's to swim. He had honed the cylinders and removed the old cam bearings. My cam got dropped off by FedEx today too.View attachment 2384796
