I think I see it in pic xxx622. Missed it earlier.

When it's painted black it's very hard to see.....I should have taken a pic from the top with the lid off. If I'm not standing in the shop with the guys, I miss a lot of the action :)

Found this to be a good sign....my air filter meter thingamajig shows that the new air filter setup flows better than before. I was around 25-26 before.

I did the same ( for your reference ) on all my Cruisers ..

In Cleopatra stock snorkel going over 14PSI = sucket all the way .. ( vacuum )

Safari snorkel = about 12 when going over 22 PSI .. which it's almost my max boost ..

That's pretty impressive to go to 12.....I was expecting a bit more of a drop but even with a cone filter on the end of the intake, as a test, I was still around the same number. I wonder how accurate things are.

I'll have to look to see if there are any better filters out there for the stock housing.....I'm running the OEM washable paper one.

I don't think those are accurate at all .. but an important point it's it might move suddenly a little bit up or down I guess in a turbo application due to the engine load and VNT variations flow

Our Maltec 200 friends are back in town having us install a new aux fuel tank along with a bunch of wiring changes done(and a second battery installed).....so I figured it was time for me to start working on my secondary battery mount.

Kind of running out of room for things on the sides of the fenders, so for this one, we're going to mount the Blue Seas ACR and the breaker for the Switch Pros on top of the secondary battery....AND we're going to hang the Flashlube catch can off the side....a multifunction battery hold down for sure.

Started with some cardboard templates to come up with this....

Welded on some 90* angle pieces to lock the battery in...

Bolted stuff down....

Everything fits nice and tight....hood strut clears the breaker....all good. Powdercoat tomorrow hopefully. We'll plumb the catch can once we get it all bolted down.

I'm sooo sorry about your Odyssey battery. I can chip in to help you buy a good battery. :moon:

And we've added a new project to the fleet of 70 series trucks....it's a fancy one :)

Hahahaha....we have had pretty good luck with the Odysseys.....I think I had one on a boat that crapped out early but that was a while ago. Please don't tell me you'd recommend an Optima :)

Optimas suck equally well. I would never open my billfold for either one. I have dealt with several fleet vehicles with both types and they remind me of an ultra-high-maintenance trophy-wife. Take your eye off for a minute and the s*** hits the fan.

I had an Optima in my 40 when they first came out...maybe 25 years ago? I remember it being super expensive back then but hat battery lasted 10 years. It was hard to believe......but then of course they were sold out and they went to pure junk. I try to never use them.

Odysseys have treated me well. I try to keep my trucks on tenders which helps massively. The pair on my boat will go about 6 or 7 years being on a tender all the time. That's pretty good. The LV has one, never been on a tender and it will fire that truck up even if it's been sitting for 4 months.

I had a Northstar in this truck(still have one as the house battery)....$370 battery and that thing was unimpressive.....so back to Odyssey.

I too have completely abandoned Optima after increasingly bad experiences... and have switched to Odyssey. Have been VERY pleased with them in all vehicles. Had one go 10 years in my old T100. The one in my 40 fires up the truck even if it's sat for a few months.

I've actually never heard someone bad mouth them... that its @cruiserdan has me a little concerned.

One thing that gets to me is that they cost well over twice what a conventional battery does and I am not convinced they are worth that much. I've had 90-dollar Walmart/Johnson Controls batteries last 8 years. :meh:

Everyone has different experiences that form their opinions. And each is right for that person for their reasons.

I use odyssey and love them.

We use them on all of our fire engines at work. Obviously a different application with different needs but if they were problematic (in our experience) we wouldn’t rely on them.

Chris I’m interested in how you’re wiring up your second battery system. Looks pretty simple which is good. Unless I’m missing something?

I really think there might just be some duds every once in a while with the Odysseys....if it wasn't for that one boat battery, I'd say we have had 100% success with them and we've installed a ton of them over the last 15 or so years. They certainly aren't cheap though....I think the last one I bought was $345 my cost! They delivered it for free though :)

I remember an Odyssey rep was here one time and telling me how much they're used in the boat industry....huge power banks as I recall....probably why I have them on my boat...in any event, I was ordering a battery for a customer's 200 the other day and was talking to the counter guy about supply levels since everything is backordered. He was saying the boat builder Everglades has something like 600 on order since April. Mid July maybe for those to start to come in. Yikes.

Really simple setup for the secondary....I'll run my winch off it and whatever the Switch Pros controls(mostly LED lights)......the Blue Seas ACR does it's business and that's that. It's a pretty hands off system in my experience. They auto connect, auto disconnect and you can lockout the secondary to completely override it if you want. Marine grade components...good wiring...should be pretty bullet proof. Hopefully the Odyssey doesn't crap out :)

I can detail the wiring that the guys do once we get into that phase. I think it's a chassis ground and ground to the other battery, positive to the other battery from ACR, ACR to 2nd battery, accessories off the battery to the breaker to the Switch Pros unit. And then of course the winch will go to the 2nd battery.

This truck has a house battery in the back that gets charged by the alternator, roof mounted solar panel and/or shore power(if connected) thru a Ctek unit. Clean setup back there.

I've been ordering parts for my Land Cruisers since 1991.....an eternity ago. In all those years and all those boxes....I've never seen one like this....

Wow....cool.

And just in case you thought there can't be another cool truck on this box........there is

And finally, there's this beautiful piece of magic....

Going to try and get this in next week.
