More details on those sliding windows ...please ?
Specifically , what series hard top sides are those , post-'76 ?
Sarge

These are 76+m hard top sides. They are made for the earlier years with the solid windows. I read that the opening is the same size if you cut the bar out. I took the plunge and bought them because I got an extra set of hardtop sides for free. I tested out the idea and it worked. So really, these windows should work with most years.

Love the way you redecorated your house with FJ40 collection!!:beer::beer:

That's just mom's living room. As long as its all gone by the time I leave for the day, no harm. :grinpimp:

More progress...

I did not get to wire up teh ignition, but we did get all of the lighting bolted up and everything aligned and tightened. These CCOT stainless bolts and a Tap are a match made in heaven. I keep the m6 and m8 in my pocket to run through all of the holes.

Great work! Really impressive!

I don't know if it's an optical illusion but are your front wheels (toe-in/toe-out) out of alignment?

Can someone identify the distributor i have from this picture? I have a spare distributor which is larger, but not large enough to need a timing cover like the FJ 60.

Does it look like i have an earlier model distributor to you guys?

It's tough for me to tell from the pic, & I'm no expert on these. See if you can get the part number off the side and then you will be able to look it up at toyotapartszone.com. I believe TEQ had a lot of changes to dizzies through the years, some vac advance and some retard. You will want to know in order to set it up right with your carb. IIRC Jim C recommends not attaching ported vac to a vac retard dizzy.

I went to get a cap for my 77 a few months ago and the caps at the dealer did not fit; found out I had an early model vac advance. I'm getting ready to drop a large cap recurve into mine.

Turns out i have the earlier style distributor. Its times like these i wish i could ask my dad about some of the parts that were put on. But knowing my dad very well, this is not something that he did. Since i have a spare 77 distributor, i am guesaibg one of our mechanic friends installed this and my dad was given a distributor of the wrong year by someone.

I have ordered the pertronix II and await delivery. In the mean time Ii will finish off the assembly of the doors and hard top.

Tonight, i am tackling the ambulance doors. I did manage to dislocate my thumb the first attempt at putting the window in. The second attempt i used a thin electric razor power cord to do the "rope trick" and easily installed it. I am excited to be using toyota weatherstripping. It is not installed yet in this picture, but it fits like a glove!

I need to get the corner windows tinted to match the rear and new sliders.

I put my weatherstripping on the doors monday night. Man is that 3M stuff messy.

Last night we assembled several things including hood roll bar, kick vents and hood.

I hate to post pictures because night cell phone pics are so bad. Daylight savings time sucks! Have i mentioned that yet?

I also painted my roof cap I think it turned out well. I should have some fully assembled pics this weekend. My newly broken windshield is being replaced today. As long as i can get the front doors assembled and door lock actuators functioning correctly.

Its 1 AM and I am just leaving the truck. It was one of those nights where everything worked. Yesterday as i left, all of a sudden the doors wpuld not close.

Tonight I quickly found out the b pillar had shifted back 2-5mm which caused the striker to miss. I spaced it the striker with m10 lock washers.

Then we popped in the rear corner windows and rubbers which my fiancé restored for me.

Next we drilled out some broken bolts in the hinge mount, and tapped all of the bolts. A little toyota weather stripping was applied with black 3M ( buy the big tube because it applies more easily!). Everything then aligned pretty easily. I need to paint my door header and its done. Im drooling right now.
