For the rear, the gasket is a FIPG, so I used an equivalent to the one Toyota called out in FSM, as well as the thread locker. You are supposed to scrape off the old gasket and clean with alcohol, which I did on all surfaces before adding the gasket material. The front actuator does have an O ring, I just cleaned it, re-lubed, re-used. I was to invested to quit then!

But I didn't do anything to the vent, now that you mention it I was going to look for where it terminated and extend it on Sunday when I had the truck up on jackstands but forgot about it. Will do though, thanks.

Last night I ordered an Blue Seas Systems on/off battery interrupt, will see if by sticking that in line with the power side of the winch I "fix" the winch drain problem. I think even after I dig into the winch to find out why it is drawing, I will leave the switch in as precaution.

Damn, I am for sure going with the cable lockers on Heather's truck then. They are just under $400.00 each. I'll clean up the actuators in there and put them on the shelf.

Izzy I can show you how to hook your winch up to a solenoid that is activated by a switch in the cab. Much smaller than most of the marine switches I have seen.

I think that would be a good longer term elegant solution Stan, thanks. For now, I will hack it like below. I had to change the crimp eyelet on the winch cable to fit the switch post. I used an 18" cable, the switch, an angle bracket I had, and an extra battery clamp that came with the tuck.

Tests the draw in the off position, still 13 mA. When I turn it on, 13 Amps! So working good. Battery has remained strong all week, good crank this morning too.

Hand Throttle! $48 Ebay, Toyoda oregano, installed today. Not sure why I need it, just know I do. It was an easy install, instructions are useless but it's pretty intuitive. Worked great when tested.
Actually, plan to use it when using compressor, winch, and will test it for crawling when driving with break instead if 2 foot drive.

This came today from Oztraulia. Ebay item, $59 delivered, hard to beat, looks pretty good. Will replace when weather is warmer.

It's here it's here!!
No time to install before my trip to the woods. Maybe Sunday if it gets over 30F....

So replacing the winch with the power draw?

(which then leads to "are you selling the old winch?")

Already sold it to a sucker, er, I mean Johnny. It was still under warranty so Engo is sending replacement parts too. Johnny should end up with practically a brand new winch, win-win.

:D

The winch you bought, Izzy, is the one I was eyeballing for a while. I'm interested to hear how you like it!!

Finally got to install Winch today. Instructions are not great, lots of missing steps, but not hard to do. Also resprayed bumper areas that had trail experience with rocks.
I like the way it looks, and rope is easy to spool. Didn't mess with box at all, it fits perfctly under grill. Didn't install disconnect yet, it does come with a series of 50 amp fuses, instructions didn't say much about them besides to add tape over them. The eye of the positive cable is not big enough to fit over switch pole bolt, so may need to rework that in the future. Overall, I LIKEY IT!

I'll bring a reamer to the meeting today so you can enlarge the hole.

Sweet. Cut off switch installed! Thanks John, reamer worked, also a center punch helped enlarge the eye hole. Good go to.

Looks very nice. Well done. What cut off method are you using?

Thanks Rice. Using the same as post #184 above, just reinstalled the switch.

Gotcha. The connection at the positive is fuses and not breakers? The topic has been warmed over a few times but where the cable drapes over the battery hold-down is a wear area. All cool if you have fuses.

I had the Tiger Shark 9500 on my green '70 FJ40. Sold the truck before I ever had to use it. I liked it just fine. It spooled in cable that first time with no load like a boss.:grinpimp:

Valve cover gasket!!!!!!! How to remove the intake valve body?

As ready to do that today, I removed all pertinent hoses from intake valve, disconnected electrics, removed the 4 bolts, but how do I get the intake body loose? pried and tried, didn't hit it with hammer, gave up and reassembled. I did find the rearmost driver side bolt is missing from valve cover.
May try again next weekend if I anyone knows how to remove, tricks or tips welcome.
