Is there a market for 20 year old 70 series Land Cruisers, original engines, in the United States if they were available?

Yes there is a market but unfortunately they aren't legal to import into the US until they are 25 years old. Regulations go by month and year of manufacturing date as indicated on the VIN data plate.

I'm in the market if the VIN tag says they're 25 years old 😉

They have to be at least 25 years old.
Trick is to be a Canadian (a North North American?). Import them when they are 15 years old. Drive them for a Decade then sell them to a South North America for a huge profit. 2008 VDJ76’s are importable this year.

Good luck finding those in lhd because in 10 years the rhd market might be as dead here as it is in Canada

You have to meet EPA and DOT. You should really trust us that it's 25 years.

Newb thought he invented a brilliant new business plan.

No one in Canada has ever done this in the history of Land Cruisers.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

10 years in Canadian weather isn't very kind to imported cruisers it seems like. They start returning back to the earth before they can get dumped on the neighbors south of the Canadian border. lol

Great idea, but I don't have a decade left according to averages. 😱 😂

It just so happens that the US market peaks at the 25yr mark. 10 years for a Canadian seems to work out fine.

I mean that 10 years from now the rhd market might be dead here as it has happened in many other countries where they started importing long before the US and where rhd vehicles are half the value of what they where several years ago . Seen it happen mainly with cruisers and rovers .

Not sure in which country outside NA it ever existed a valuable market for RHD in a LHD country ????
Maybe for car that are JDM only and does not exist at all in LHD but that very niche generally (Toyota Century maybe). Never understood why Americans were importing RHD HDJ80, KZJ90, etc. while they exist in huge number in LHD in Europe (can understand for KZJ78 and HZJ77 but hard to justify for other Land Cruiser models....).
There are also people in NA that import Defender from the UK for no special reason... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Over here you can find sports car in RHD but that's only because there are a lot more of them in the UK and they are a lot cheaper. So it's only a way to have a fun car for cheap and they always had a far lower value than LHD versions.

I read it as when LHD iterations become legal, then RHD values go down. For example RHD HZJ77 vs. LHD HZJ76.
