It would be nice to have a list of everything needed to complete hydro assist on an 80 since no one makes a complete kit for us.

Hydro assist is hydro assist. There is nothing special about the 80 and any kit will work. You just need to modify two brackets with a grinder, one for the axle, one for the tierod.

Ok. While on trail gear's site they did not have one specific for the 80 so I'm guessing I can just get one of the other kits for let's say an 85 4runner and modify the brackets to work?

Yes that's the kit I'm running. Just need to make sure you get the right length ram for your setup. Mine is different because I moved the steering up front.

Looks like the choices are either 6" or 8". This is a new thing for me to explore so thanks for the info.

You need a 10" ram if you're going behind the axle using stock steering. And the Trail Gear kit will not work. You need the mount I posted or fab your own.

Didn't mr jits use an 8" ram behind the axle?

Anywho, it's easy to measure. But measure exactly where you plan on attaching the ram to the tierod. The measurements will change depending on where you place the reference point

Yeah he did but if you measure the steering travel it is 5" one way and 5" the other.

An 8" ram was perfect in my application with 38" tires. I think that unless you shim it, a ten inch ram could cause issues

I found the 10" to be a bit long as well. The 1.5 x 9" From West Texas off road is the perfect length for the stock behind the axle tie rod. IMHO

I've had a 10" on mine for years and can attest it's a bit too much when doing rapid steering adjustments. It is also a 10x2 so it's a little large in diameter also. I've been meaning to go to an 8x1.5 for while, but it currently resides at the bottom of the expenditure list.

Even with pics, I don't understand what you're saying.

On good authority, it's been stated the PS pump bent a sector shaft while bench testing, without steering linkages connected or any other loads.

Issue still being fluid capacity and exchange considering the limitations of the rest if the system, causing the infamous whine.

You forgot to show the pic of this kick ass bracket I made work with the res.

I also used the ruffstuff 1/4 plate to reinforce the steering stops so they won't crush under the hydro ram.

Thank you for the pictures. After spending time under my truck I do not see any other way around it but to remove the sway bar. Looks like this is what you did.
