I need a little help.
I installed the VB and Techstream as described in the 1st post and Techstream starts ok as expected.
Then I bought the PARANNIC cable Amazon.com: PARANNIC Mini VCI J2534 Cable V18.00.008 Latest Version, OBD2 Cable Connector Scanner Adapter Fit for TIS Techstream Programming Diagnostic Cable, Support Win XP WIN7 WIN10 : Automotive - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DHV568QH?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_3B9JBK88WKCCVQHHTCVQ&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_3B9JBK88WKCCVQHHTCVQ&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_3B9JBK88WKCCVQHHTCVQ&titleSource=true?tag=ihco-20 as in post #1464.
This is installed on a Dell 64 bit Win 10 laptop.
When I tried to connect it to a 2009 RX350 I got an (s302-05)"Unable to Connect to VIM".
Is there something I have to do to use this cable?
Any suggestion appreciated.

Hello,

I’m stuck at the product key. Anyone have any advice?

Had ABS, VSC, BRAKE lights all active with the buzzer going off last night. Pretty concerned and wanted to try to diagnose.

you need to change the driver in use, assuming you have installed the VIM driver.
once you have Techstream running, go to Setu->VIM Select and click on the dropdown list; then select other value than default...that did it for me.
please let me know if that works and you are able to see all the ecus, as I am having an issue where only the Engine and Cruise control are available to query/configure... I am using this cable: VCI J2534 Cable Fit for Toyota TIS Techstream - Latest Version V16.00.017, Firmware V1.4.8, Scanner Adapter Diagnostic Cable Scan Tool, OBD2 Diagnostic Cable, Support Win XP WIN7 WIN10 32/64bits, Code Readers & Scan Tools - Amazon Canada - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0DJ74S2R2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I don't think you read the whole million pages encyclopedia on this thread. I won't either. Most of the people that downloaded Techstream from this thread, is actually a virtual box machine that has Techstream installed in windows XP and it works.
I sent you a DM, and thank you sir.
Gonna give it a try, been running v12 for years.

@bgw70. V18 is the current best version. If @Kamran Khan can get you the keys for free, that is the best way forward. Kamran is absolutely correct, stop messing with the VM and just install the actual current version. There are similar alternatives but it costs a bit (<$20). I outlined the alternatives in this thread.

Is it possible to get access to firmware updates for free? Is there a website where they are hosted? I have access to a similar device like the mongoose.

Thanks

Happy New Year to all !

Is it it safe to say that I didn't need to download Oracle Virtual Box since I'm running Windows XP? I'm very new to this. Like yesterday new. Lol

Deleting post.
Good day. The Google drive link isn't allowing me access

I think I am still running V12 with VM. Since it works and my junk is a 2000 I am not changing. I do not deny it would be nice to shįt can that clunky interface (VM) though.

far right shows Techstream is running but inside the Oracle VirtualBox Manager, the Device Information shows "N/A". running Windows XP

Sorry buddy, it is no longer available and I no longer support it. You can download it from the new thread started by @asmara . Here is the link to his thread Click here.

I recently came across this site while trying to find a good scanner to buy, for my RX350.
For those of you that are trying to get things working, here's what I did (and what I'm having an issue with).

step 1 - I bought a (clone) Mongoose JLR cable off Aliexpress.
It did come with three CDs (one was for VIDA Volvo, one for TS, and I forget the other).
The TS disc does come up with virus/malware for the "launcher" file that you're supposed to copy into the TS install directory.

step 2 - followed the directions on page one of this forum topic.
I downloaded Hypervisor (Oracle VirtualBox).
I then had to download the Visual Basic C++ redistributable (x64).
I then downloaded the TS (v12) OVA file.
I installed Visual Basic, then installed VirtualBox.

I followed the YouTube video on page 70. Once Virtualbox is installed and running, you IMPORT the OVA file.
It will configure a Windows XP VM with version 12 of TS.
Because I am using a different OBDII cable, I needed to find the x86 JLR Mongoose driver (the driver on the CD that came with it, was x64).
Once I found and downloaded the driver, I could just drag/drop it from my main Downloads directory, into the XP VM.
Then I installed that driver in the XP VM window, and plugged in the JLR cable (verified all installed).
Then started TS and went into VIM Select and (from the drop down) chose the JLR Mongoose.

After all that, things seem to work and I can connect to my RX350.

Howdy,
My old, non-tech enabled self is trying to get techstream on an old MacBook Pro from 2011. Wanted to make sure it will work before pulling the trigger on a cable which, incidentally, says “non Mac OS compatible” in the description, so I’m confused.
Thx in advance.

I am not a Mac guy but it is my understanding that Techstream must run in Windows OS on your Mac and then the Windows environment will recognize the cable. But a Mac person will need to confirm that.
