I’m currently running version 6.1.18. It looks like the links in the first post may have been updated as I could have sworn it used to be a version 5.2.x download link. Their website says they quit supporting version 5.2 in July 2020. Probably explains my issues with the old version.
Looks like there is a newer version 6.1.3 out.
Do you have a link to 6.1.18 that solves the registration problem? i was sent 6.1.17 when i bought my dongle (with drivers for 1.4.8 and 2.01 but not 2.04) and it doesn't seem to work right! Its all running in VM box, on a 64 bit system, i can setup the Vim and connect to the car, but it doesn't show all the ECus and i can't edit many of the functions!

Afternoon and Merry Christmas, attached is a pic of the link page to which your directed to download the Techstream. Does it appear to be the correct version? When I concluded the download the information page said the software was for XP and was 32bit? Is this correct? Thanks
Yes it’s XP based that’s why you’re running it on virtual box and not your W10 machine directly. Should work fine…

The note at the bottom about having to reinstall VirtualBox ended up being important.
I am getting this all set up and so far so good. I havent plugged into vehicle yet but it is saying that I should update the software and that my version (12.20.024) became obsolete in 2018. Should I go ahead and press the update now button?
does anyone know if this is the correct version for 2003 year models?
I'm looking to replace the brake actuator then bleed the brakes on a 2008 Lexus. But I don't want to start the actuator replacement until I'm sure I can bleed the brakes with TechSteam.
I'm using the original cable (XHorse MINI-VCI J2534 firmware 1.4.1) that was recommended in this thread that I bought years ago and TechStream 12.20.024 v2. I keep getting an intermittent error "Lost communications with the vehicle. Press OK to reinitialize the ECU...". It seems to pop up at random spots and I cannot page through the brake bleeding steps (there are a bunch) without running into it. Cannot find much with an internet search.
Any chance it's the old cable/firmware and I need to update to the newer one? They seem the correct versions for each other. Maybe I need a 2.0.4 cable to run tests? I cannot reproduce the error on demand, nor can I avoid it eventually. Unfortunately, that error causes the bleeding process to have to start over entirely.

I purchased an Amazon Cable (before I found this thread) and have been able to play around quite a bit with Techstream on my 10/2006 (designated 07MY) production LX470.
However, I recently came upon a road block when trying to diagnose a flashing TPMS light... Essentially all values in the TPMS Data List were either zeroed out or default negatives as seen here:
I was also unable to proceed with any TPMS Utility functions without receiving errors during the first couple of steps (like it wasn't communicating with the module).
After a bit of searching, sounds like my issue is related to the Firmware version of the cable I purchased (listed as Firmware V1.4.8, Sounds like it needs to be a v2.x).
Couple of questions:
- Has a workaround been proven to get the TPMS functions to work with the V1.x firmware cables?
- If not, am I able to update the firmware to v2.x on my current cable?
- If not, is the cable that @getco mentions in the OP a v2.x cable?
- If not, who is the best vendor or link to order one?
- If this is an ongoing issue for certain model years, can a note please be added to the OP (so others don't make the same mistake of purchasing the wrong cable)?

3. Tech stream then displays all of the ECUs but then when I double click to connect to the AHC ECU it displays an error saying that is isn't available and to check the FSM repair manual. It does this when I double click on any ECU. I figure that the mini-VCI cable isn't being recognized.
4. I can open windows in VB and see the USB cable listed and also check marked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated .
