yup just enter the key and you should be good to go. No need to register anything.

Sorta off topic. I'm running an old TS that worked perfect for my 04 4Runner, 07 and 09 Camry. Luckily when I got rid of my 4Runner and got the LX it worked (because my LX is an 01). Fast forward to now, the 07 and 09 Camry are now replaced with 14 Lexus ES350 and 20 Avalon. My question is which updated cable is everyone using on the 06+ 100's for their TPMS. I'm assuming that's the cable needed for the ES and Avalon and what is the highest model year of the virtual TS in the first post? I'm more wanting to have a local installed TS and not used the virtual TS so I don't need internet connection.

Wow got this set up super easy thank you. So happy to unlock all doors with 1 click & to quiet down the beep when it locks/unlocks.

why are you guys still trying to install Techstream to your physical computer?

The original post has a link to a virtual machine that has Techstream on it already. Think of it as remotely logging onto a far away computer with techstream via your own computer. Doesn't matter if you have a PC, a Mac, a Linux etc.

here are the steps:

1) buy a cable that works with our year Toyota or Lexus. Looks like there are a lot of options posted recently. I got one for $30 that works with my LX. If your cable comes with a Techstream CD, throw it away or use it as a frisbee or something.

2) Download the software that allows you to log into a virtual machine. Link to get it is in the first post.

3) Install said software to your physical computer.

4) Download the Techstream "image" - basically the file that will let you log into the virtual computer that already has techstream installed

From there you will see a windows machine and desktop boot up within your existing computer. Computer within a computer. Click the desktop icon for Techstream and Bob's your uncle.

It literally takes 5 minutes.

The little CD that came with my cable doesn't work right, so I'm trying the steps above.
Edit: Got the Techstream to work; I had to upgrade Virtual box to version 5.2.44 to get it run on Win10 laptop. Thanks!

Sorry for the minor hijack, but I figured it's related since I used the Techstream...

Has anyone experienced this message on their LX (I have a 570 btw) ? "Check VGR System" I was able to see and clear code C15A9 with Techstream.

When steering and driving, I don't feel there is a steering issue; truck drives and steers fine. Funny how this all started when a local indy replaced the steering rack. This indy claims the steering rack replacement and the actuator are not related. I'm not sure if what he says is true.

I saw this link: http://zatonevkredit.ru/repair_manuals/raw_content/RM1000000019HQZ.xml

So perhaps some sort of calibration is needed? Something I can do myself with Techstream? Find another indy to recalibrate? Reset the code as needed? Or would I eventually need a new steering column (a $2-3k job!)?

Hoping some of you 470 guys/gals may shed some light. Thanks.

GX 460/470 doesn't have that system in steering rack but it does appear to be something you can calibrate with TS on your LX. Of course if calibration fails it could be a hardware issue.

Getting Techstream up and running can be a bit of a pain. Hopefully this helps someone get started quickly.

Step 1: Purchase an OBD-II interface. One option:
- Amazon product ASIN B06XGB714M ($20, Prime)

Step 2: Download VirtualBox for Your Operating System:
- Windows: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.4/VirtualBox-5.2.4-119785-Win.exe
- MacOS: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.4/VirtualBox-5.2.4-119785-OSX.dmg

Step 3: Install VirtualBox Software You Just Downloaded
- Windows: Double-Click downloaded file
- MacOS: Double-Click downloaded file, run installer

Step 4: Download TechStream Image:
- MEGA (V2! Click to download)

Step 5: Double-Click downloaded file.

Connect & Enjoy.

Edit (4/8/18): I removed the more expensive cable, as I received a new Mini-VCI cable that works 100% at 1/4 the cost.

TechStream Image, i am not able to install. It complains ovf file not available. Can some one guide me please.
i followed step 2,3 and 4 is failing.

Did you try upgrading Virtual box to a newer version?

Yes I upgraded the virtual box to 6.x. it was asking winhvplatform.dll. I added that to system32. Now it says "Not in a hypervisor partition" and fails to load. trying to find about the hypervisor.

This question was posted a few pages back and I haven't seen an answer...

I downloaded everything to my Mac and got TS to work and everything except when connecting to my scanner. My OBD scanner is wifi. Is there a way to connect TS to the wifi OBD scanner in virtual box? Or do I have to get the cord to plug into the OBD port on my truck?

IIRC, TS and the associated files that come with the installation have files that specifically install the drivers for the USB cord.

Can you connect to your wifi OBD2 scanner manually, successfully, while in the VM session?

I think I found that the version of windows on the virtual box is so old it won't let me set up a wireless network or connect to my OBD wifi adapter.

If the OS on your VM session can't see the OBD wifi adapter, then no software running in the VM session knows it exists either.

Yeah, it can't see any wifi at all so I need to download a newer OS version and then see if I can get it to connect over wifi.

Thanks.

Ok, so I've got TechStream running on Windows 10 on VirtualBox on a Mac OS. No small task. But I can't see how to get around this window. I must be approaching this problem from the wrong direction.

Think you can just enter regular information in there... It is only sent if you attempt to use the internal update link.
