Just a little note. Cold high idle up reacts upon oil temperature, not water temperature if memory serves me right. :)
The 12h-t really starts easy in the cold with a little hot air.

Well, (i think) mine has the vac switch on water... Maybe they're different? Haven't seen oil vac switch on 12ht's.

The invite was only good for 24h, so you're 4 hours too late!
So no one got it…
But fear not, I'll shoot you the next one, I think I'll get two more.
Shoot me a pm with your mail addy, and I'll invite straight away, whenever I get the next one!

Happy new year, everyone!
I celebrated upgrading my dull china bluish led backuplights for some brighter china leds.
Picture lies a bit of course, but it really made a difference.
New is on the left side.

The little lens at the end has three cree's under it, and it pushes the light further, actually works.
I just decided to test a few, not that many to choose from in the mulitivoltage market.
This one is 12-24v. Link to DX
Will for sure give them a thumbs up for now, lets see how long they last.

Also swapped the oem dome festoon, and went for this fella.
So far a huge improvement, gonna order a few extras for the rear, maybe glue them flat on the upper tailgate.
Also 12-24v, clean white light. Sticky chinese "3m" tape on the backside, and was surprised that it survived shorting out on one of the screws in the dome light, blowing the 7.5amp dome fuse.
Was about to throw it away, but figured i'd give it another shot without touching it to ground.
Works fine, did not get hot the 10 mins i had it on.
Not a fan of china lights, but these are not safety related, and i could not find a better option after my 2min search for 24v leds. Anyone got a better option?

Well, we got a heavy load of snow before new years... and i got home in the night with the Rav4, after spending the holidays in the south.
You can see the buried Rav4 next to the house, stranded after i just floored it in there the night before this little video:

Now I'm waiting for my late christmas gift for the cruiser... From me, via George @orangefj45
Great guy to deal with, and will come to him over and over again.
Should arrive this week. :bounce:

Adding a couple of photos of the dome light in action.
Picture from the rear is for once pretty good with showing the light output (OnePlus is a bit grainy in the dark)
Dont mind the sloppy seat cover ;) Recaro's are torn in the seat.

Recarro's and a suicide knob! You are stylin, Sir!!!
Hell yeah! I've had sissy knobs in every 4by I've owned, love them.

Orthodox stiff recaros are firm and good, flat bottom but good side lumbar support.
DS is a bit thrashed under the cover, will swap them whenever I find another set of the bmw's I put it the burnt cruiser.
Those fit my back issues more than any other seat, and is more firm. Volvo's are good, but too soft for my liking.

Found a nice set of Saab vector seats, they even look right. Lots of pros' with them, but they need a lot of fab to fit in, and don't have that up/down movement and other adjustments that the BMW's have.
I'll see what I can find...

Love the lights. I need to hook up the factory reverse harness to my transmission, two plus years later

You should probably add a relay while at it, and have a second switch to run them without beein in reverse, and with a top mounted flood light.
Thats what i'm doin.
The light still perform great, i guess a better reflector and glass would make some difference, but for now im happy.

Got the tire rod ends done the other day, steering is tighter, but i'll have to make some minor adjustments to the camel toe in.
The "riding on a endge" feeling is there, worse on 2" deep tracks in the ice. i have just a slight toe in now, like i had on the 60 with 35s.
Now, I guess i cant compare them, as there was different front springs, (heavy vs medium now) and narrower rim now, no spacers.

2015-01-27 17.13.52.webp

This is how i did the toe in this time- Marks on the tire, front off ground, front locker in, rotate tire half turn between the measurements, measure from and to the same spot with laser, adjust acordingly.
Easyest way i've ever done them, and accurate enough.
2015-01-27 19.13.36.webp

These rims actually fit the cruiser, 8mm clearance to the rubber on the TRE.
-but i guess they'll have to go off when i mount the 4Runner calipers.
Now that i'm driving this soo many miles a day, im thinking about going to a narrower tire. maybe 255/85r16 on steelies.

I like theese Three Five ends, only had good experience with them.
Next up is Transfer rebuild and manual shift mod.
I got most parts sorted out, everything is from @orangefj45

Got some missing interior pieces installed, all locks will be swapped into a good set, all matching and a few spare keys.
Then driveshafts, front axle and brake rebuild and caliper upgrade.
I think i have everything for that, exept rotors and a beefed set of 30 splines.
Really looking forward to getting the front axle clean and noise free. ;)

Some of theese parts are paypaled with the funds from the donations last year.
I cant thank you enough, friends! Thanks to you, the rig will be in full service when the summer comes.

That's a flipping good idea.

I was supposed to do the transfer rebuild this weekend, but the cruiser gods wanted things differently.
My right soft brake line at the knuckle got a bad bulge, and was pretty cracked. I then saw the caliper leaking.
Since i had most knuckle rebuild parts in, 4Runner calipers and ss brake lines ready i went to work.
The weather wanted it otherwise. The storm 'Ole' was coming in, and i fugured i could get most done before it was supposed to hit here. Long story short, it hit face first 5 hours earlier :)

The cruiser at the workbench, tarp was taking the vertical stuff at first, but when the horizontal white stuff came flying, the tarp and the power went out.

I love headlamps, my the 10w led worklight, it was a blessing.
The 4Runner calipers are a bit wider, so i was exited to see if the wheels would clear them.
Here compared to the stock calipers. (sorry for the crap photos, but i just snapped for reference)

Knuckles really needed a good elbow greasing, but with the witeout storm, i just got them really clean, did not get to paint them as planned. I'll get a paintbrush in there later.

Props to George @ Valley Hybrids @orangefj45 for supplying most of the parts.
Here the reman and loaded calipers, ss brake lines with elbow at caliper and seal installer with ecoseals.

I didnit have upgraded axles for this job, neither the brake discs.
So that will be swapped at a later time.
The old brass bushing was really worn down at the bottom.
Brass bushings were swapped, spindle heated to slide them in without destroying them.
2015-02-07 15.11.59.webp

Steering arms had heated marks where they rest on the trunnion bearing.
Swapped the bearings, but still interesting...
2015-02-06 22.04.27.webp

I then popped the thirdmember out of curiosity, i had something similar of a sound of a bad pinion bearing, but that was all good.
And i coudn't get the locker to engage on the passenger side, just the drivers side.
I found a really bad oil, and with a magnet i found little metal 'bits' that all seem to have been a shim, or somthing. All 37+10 theeth were good, but i was bummed that it is a 3.7 ratio, not a 4.11.
But since i was unsure of the locker operating right, i took the other jap steel rig (yamaha) for a run in the storm to pick up another spare open diff and driveshafts from my old 82 donor, wich i knew had 3.7 diffs.
2015-02-10 11.01.20.webp

It was of course another flange on that one, so i swapped them over.
2015-02-10 11.57.45.webp

I have never had a locker of this kind apart, and dont know why i dont have drive out on the passenger side. I slid both driveshafts into the locked diff, and everything works as it should... Open and locked...
Very strange.
I had the spare driveshafts laying next to the shafts that were in the 61 when i bought it.
I did notice a length difference on the short passenger inner axles, and the one that was in the truck was 4cm shorter! It was also of a german brand something, so it has been swapped at some point.
From what i can remember, early hilux mini shafts are a tad shorter than the 6x series.
Some earlier PO must have been drugged at a trail repair....?

So that could explain the really worn brass bushing and the lack of drive on the passenger side when locked. And the splines were only slight beaten at the inner end of DS. no wear on the diff splines.
But it does maybe not explain the eaten up shim-looking crap i found....

Can anyone school me on the inner workings of the simple locker?

So with the weather beeing mean to me, i opted to just throw the open diff in, and reassemble everything with the knuckes rebuilt. I gave the donor diff a new pinion seal since i had to swap over the newer style drive flange.
2015-02-10 14.04.57.webp

I changed the frame to axle brake line, mounted the new calipers.
Passenger side wheel clears the calipers with a hair.
Driver side wheel does not clear the calipers.
Here is what had to be ground off.
2015-02-10 16.04.12.webp

After bleeding several times, went trough 2 bottles of brake fluid, there is just a tad of brake power....
Either the master got shot, or there is interferance issues with the 6x master and the 4Runner calipers.
From what i've seen, people do run the stock master?
Now i'm gonna need to hunt down another master.... what would be most bolt in? i dont wanna deal with a residual valve.

Now that you have braided steel lines I have a set of brand new never used backing plate eliminator set if you are interested.
Thought I might needed them for the Tundra brake conversion, figured I didn't :)

I thought that every cruiser sold in Norway had 3.70 differentials, are yours imported?

That much work in the snow!! Craziness.

Well, it had to be done...since i was out of brakes.
After i went for a parts run with the Yamaha, i did never took off the goggles. ;)

i actually had it all back in place only to find out the locked diff did not work out.

I have mounted it up with backing plate spacer. No brake shields now. i will probably sell mine in good condition.

Not all 61 series had the 3.7, some came with 4.11. At least one i fiddled with earlier.
I'll pull the other one too, and regear.
