Pulled into my danish part store, smelling fresh coffee and bread, along with the oil and money smell ;)
Team Bertelsen is the one place i order most of my stuff, and decided it was time to get some upgrades.
The ARB fridge, a 24v HO arb compressor with hose kit, tire repair kit, clutch slave, bearings, knuckle kit, brake parts, rear shocks and tons of other small odds and ends found it's way into the cruiser. The service was great, and i got a pretty good deal on the parts. They carry arb, ome, terrain tamer and toy parts. what a blast!

It was time to head back to Tønsberg, after one week on the road. We had a ferry to catch, and the extra weight was noticable, but no problem for the cruiser.

The reason we headed back, we were going to hadbrake's brothers wedding. Of course, the rig served as a ride to the mansion.

Next day, after the wedding, i had a cruiser itch... and had to go for a test run off pavement. Nothing extreme, just to get a feel for the truck, if something needed attention.
Went really well, no big rattles except rear hatch and rear shocks were bad.
And the wiper linkage pooped out again.

Started the next day on our trip north, back home, and stopped by a couple old friends who also twist their knuckles on cruisers. I got some needed parts, driveshafts, interior parts and a 61 steering wheel.
Niiiice to finally get rid of that old 1st gen hilux wheel.
I also put in a huge 30amp 24-12v converter, a fuse box for more 24v accessories, hardwired a outlet in the quarter for the fridge, wired and mounted the the alpine DAB deck, and a couple of kicker speakers in the front to get some tunes for the week long ride home ;)

Here is my buddy Eivind posing in front of his two sixtys, the 42 and the old mk1 hilux.
Had a great time there! ;) (as you can see, all the engines were inspected...)

And this is me making sure the new steering wheel works on the norwegian twisty roads:

Keep em coming :D

I'll try no to post ALL my photos, but there's plenty left.

shortly after heading out, we got signs of beeing on the right track back home. Crossing the border near Femundmarka, there were curious pedestrians all over. :steer:

And while serching for a nice off the grid camp, i stumbled across some veggies and "forestbeard" telling me we were in the right spot! We were pretty high in the mountains, drove an old logging road and set camp.

Blurry picture, but you get the idea. Storage setup was already better, and the ladder is rattly but one of the best upgrades. fridge, tools and food in the back, with pillows and other lighter stuff on top.

After entering the Norwegian roads with extra load in parts, meat and beer, i decided to swap the rear shocks, and found the old ones useless. After emerging from the grass under the rig, handbrake had made the most delicious lunch with bacon and eggs! She's really getting into it!

Great pics, very inspiring. I've been planning a trip for so long, but I never feel like the rig is quite ready for an extended stay. I just need to jump in and go.

Another beautiful campsite in mid sweden, by a lake. Cold morning with 2 deg C at night.

I seek dirt roads:

We had about 16 nights on the roof, and decided last night we were gonna try out the annex since the weather got really bad... Witch is why i lack alot of photos from the last few days.
it was great to have some extra shelter, but the annex just isnt tall enough to fit nicely.
The bottom caves in, and makes the floor smaller. Will have to address this before i use it again.

To finish up the first roadtrip with the sweet 61, this is the pose after almost three weeks on the road, 4600km, 290 miles. Thanks, everyone!

Yeah... i've been trough one pretty solid build before, and this time we just jumped in, carrying only two kilos of tools.
It's a crusier, just enjoy it! ;) your rig seems ready enough!

Thanks. I have two things to take care of then it becomes a scheduling/pet sitting issue. Keep the pics coming

judging by your rpm range at HW .. you should have 4.11 with means you can easily jump up to 35" with no mayor problem .. and actually lower rpm at HW for same speed ..

Not that it really makes a huge difference .. but the cool factor does ..

Great pics! Glad to see you're getting so much out of the new truck. That 'suicide knob' on your steering wheel, legal over there?
Not legal in Canada, but I brought one home from India, as they're required there. I have to get my tach working, J
As soon as I can figure out how to drive to Sweden I'm coming over for a camping trip.
Beautiful!

I wonder how expensive would it be to ship my 60 over to Europe so I can drive around for a couple of months :hhmm:

Beautiful!

Thank you!! We call it "steeringball"! ;) and it's not legal in small cars. Trucks and bigger equipment can use them. The one i have comes from a 24t earthmover. I love the wheelball both on and off road. If anyone needs one, let me know.

We all just need to meet somewhere neutral like Iceland and have a blast.

Yeah, @GLTHFJ60 , @The Phoenician, @maat and @Tapage lets round up at iceland... my plan was actually to go there this year, with a good friend of mine, and our handbrakes.

I'd love to go down under, or to the states and hook up with you to get some pointers for where to wheel and what to drink.
And if someone wants to come to norway, my door is open, and with lots of compliments and persuasions you can probably use my sixty for some time...
:)

Excellent stuff TLC, good to see you back in a cruiser

all me and my mates do is wheel and drink, so 'yall be in good hands :D

Hahah, Maat! Looking forward to it!

Changed the primer pump the other day, as the old was leaking.
This bosch unit has better feel to it, and no "lock" threads but it is a nice swap.
swapped it twice on the old 60, and third time i went with a bosch, witch lasted.

While down there i had a look at the returnsprings for the ip, and some vac stuff i've been wondering about.
2014-08-31 15.35.36.webp

Can someone chime in on the look of theese springs? to me they dont seem original...
And i have some sympthoms of a kangaroo throttle feel at times. I can compe with it in pretty harsh terrain, but i wanna get this sorted so my better half can drive a bit less jerky and with more confident.
Also looking into putting a dampener on it.

Applied vacuum to the idle up vac clock you can see above, but im not sure if the oil temp vac switch is working as it should. Also this applies to the a/c fitted engines, and some has an pressure switch activating it when powersteering. cool!
you can see that oil temp vac switch on the left in the image.

At another angle, you can see this solenoid/actuator looking thing.
It pushes against the fuel cut off lever...but has no wire running to it, or obvious connection. WTF?
There's an working butterfly vac shutoff on the inlet manifold, so i dont know why it's there.

@Tapage how's your ip hooked up? This would probably be a feature used on the 12ht or 2h with auto tranny....
