That collar had to move again and the gear on the output shaft must have walked back again, just farther this time. How is reverse?
At least this time, it's just a matter of separating the toybox, pulling the front adapter plate resetting that clamp and tack welding it in place.
Just a few hours work.

We have a picture of were it was. The ring is not clamping together it should be clamping in the Shaft.
I think it's in the shift fork or lock ring that locks the gear in.
We did not remove the detent ball for 5th did we??

In case it helps....

This was part of a liked post.

"Finally getting around to doing some testing with the new Toybox. I had to pull the Toybox off the tranny. I didn't know I needed to clearance the 5th gear shift rail. The Toybox adapter does not allow enough movement for the 5th gear shift rail to fully engage the shift fork/hub sleeve. I had to grind .040 inch off the end" of the shift rail to get it to work properly."

I think it's going to visit Ryan at his new shop !! Maybe first customer gets a discount ??

keep this thread updated as I (as well as others I'm sure) will be interested to see what the final remedy or diagnosis is....

Man, am I sorry to hear this. I know it's got to be frusturating. Wish I could be helpful.

I had read that thread (that suggested grinding was needed) also, but have no idea if it applies to Steve's issues. Best of luck dude.

Following this as a 100% satisfied H41/Toybox user. THe H55/Toybox combo always seems like problems. I hope this ends up being something simple, but the H55 with Toybox never seemed quite right. Grinding the splines, cutting the shaft are problem prone areas.

Taking this apart 3 times would make me look in a different direction, but I hope you can resolve it by moving that shaft collar a bit.

Very sympathetic with all the difficulty. My H41/Toybox has been perfect for 7-8 years now. Good luck, and condolences.

I think the collar is good.
I think it's the plate not allowing the shift fork to push the synchro thing all the way on. To keep it in gear.

I'm not sure about that???
I'm hoping it's something easy and quick!!

Anybody have more pics of the plate. I know we posted one in this thread but it does not show the bottom half of the left side. Looking for a circular cut out , I think its the needed space for the shift fork. So the fork doesn't need shaved.

Dammit!
From rufusthedufus' thread:
I figured it out when putting it all back together. The 5th gear shift rail needs to be ground down a bit. I had to take .040" off of it. The front half of the Marlin Crawler Toybox adapter was interfering and not allowing the fifth gear shift fork to engage the hub sleeve all the way.

Why is this not posted on every H55F to Toybox install thread? Do they have a Hardcore FAQ? If so, this needs to be front and center.
