I made a vid to help people how to figure how much lift they have.
 
I was unaware that you are running those older Dobinson tapered front coils. Or did I just forget? Glad you are happy with the FCP shocks. I like mine but think the could benefit from more aggressive rebound damping under higher speed/deeper spring compression scenarios.

have you seen any issues with running them without the "cup" for lack of a better word, that goes between the steel mount and the rubber bump?
 
Theres no way I got those shocks and springs from you in november. Oh my lord this thing took forever to put together.

Your buddy picked them up for you just after Thanksgiving if I remember correctly, but does it matter anyways.

I have not.
I did grind on the passenger side bracket because the VT coils banana on that side.
 
Like I said the rear shocks performed AWESOME.
They rode like BUTTERSMOOTH.
I bought the 6" lift fronts.

My fronts on strait hit with the Timbren bumps give me approx 3.5" of uptravel with room for articulation.

When the Slinky long-travel set-up first came to market I wanted but couldn’t afford. I eventually settled on the Ironman Foam Cell Pro 4” paired with Tourflex 3” dual rate springs. Numbers suggested this set-up was a close match to the slinky for travel.

For a budget shock the foam cell pros are superb. Much softer damping than OME.

My truck is heavy and I tow a trailer. I’ve done 30k hard miles on this suspension and am still happy.
 
How much lift do I need to fit 39s?

I took these in May of this year.
I want to get back to a 9" wheel with 3.5" BS without spacers, but for now these 7.5" with 5" BS wheel will do. Currently Running 2" spacer up front & 1.5" rear.

I hate to say it but I think I like it better with all the cladding.....I regret tossing mine after the wheel wells were ripped off......:bang:

Going home from work Nov 10th my Lexy tripped 222,222 miles.
I got her in Nov of 2014 with 168K, so that's an average of 5,400 per year of daily driving plus adventures.

Back to 39’s huh? Thanks for all the tech info Gary. I’m in the no flares camp but that’s because they would never last on an 80 I own and operate. Looks wise either way works for me. Happy Thanksgiving….. Now I really want 39’s!!
 
Last oil change Aug 2022 at 215,313 miles went with Royal Purple with intentions to get 7K & did, but the oil looked & smelt burnt.
I did not add any oil & had some still on the dipstick when checked.
This change was at 222,668 went back to Mobile 1 & stick with 5K changes.
My driving is the most sever besides very cold conditions. I drive 7 miles one way; the engine barely reaches full temp before shutting it off then do the same on the way home. I lubed the drive lines; these are same U-joints that came with the rig in 2014.

Before the oil change Lexy got to stretch her legs out on the first road trip in years...
Round trip was just under 300 miles.
I took my oldest for a get out of Dodge City day trip from Coalinga to Hearst Castle then Cayucos for Fish tacos & Clam Chowder then a stop in Los Osis & San Luis then back home.
The rig ran down the freeway very smooth, the 39s ran straight & true. Im very happy with these 39x12.5s

Well, I can post a pic to compare my rig with 3" lift with 37", 38" & 39" tires to compare.
The pics with 37 & 38 the axle is not moved forward 1" like the pic with 39s.
