I still have no idea what I’m doing with the 3FE, but my unpaid model intern got to drive it into the garage. A day and a half of work (and many more about a year ago for Johnny to get it to this point.)

It’s got a miss at idle. I’ll go through and print out the vacuum diagram and start there (lots of old lines) and then we will do a valve adjustment to get it even. I disconnected the EGR solenoid and the idle instantly improved. Coming from a desmogged 2F, it’s a pretty steep learning curve.

This one was truly left for dead, but it’s being saved.

You already know my address, just be a doll and send them over. Thanks.

This needs to be said out loud. Not all 3FE in a 62 are the same.

I ordered belts for an early truck; but it’s the case that there was a mid cycle split and a lot of things changed.

A lot of sensors are also different. I find that so far it’s only the belts that I made a mistake on. I’ve got dual idler pullies on the passenger side. Doesn’t show in many of the forum drawings.

I’ll tread carefully from here on out.

I’m pretty sure you’re the #unpaidintern when on Lake Jackson soil

You’ll be hearing from our Yota Filters Lawyer.

Random pictures.

It runs and cranks easily, and from what I can tell it needs the throttle cable to be lubricated or the TPS to be calibrated.

It idles great but it seems that the throttle is very delayed and slow to respond.

Just found a great thread from @4Cruisers that I’ll be using to trouble shoot this.

Any particular tips for safely cleaning a cold start fuel injector without damaging it?

I just used a flat blade screw driver on the body and a small pic around the outlet with a ton of carb cleaner. It wasn’t hard at all.

It’s not my first time fixing an old car up, but the feeling never goes away.

The more single pieces of effort we put into this one, the happier it gets. We fix one thing and it’s like 3 other things come to life.

I’m ecstatic about saving this old girl.

I’m trying to figure out this lock. At some point someone pulled the ignition switch and cylinder, they didn’t put it back in. seems like they pulled it to trouble shoot the ignition switch itself.

I think the trick to this thing is spinning the drivers side of the lock cylinder that is behind the electrical switch more precisely.

I need to find something to more precisely index the two parts of this. I almost need a small surgeons clamp to twist it while not chewing up any of the surfaces.

Any ideas? @cwwfj60 @4Cruisers @orangefj45 @ToyotaMatt

Also, funny enough…this truck lived close to my house for most of its life. I’m going to see if the shop that worked on it remembers it and can maybe provide info as to what they did.
