Builds Grey Gardens FJ62LG-PNEA: An idiots guide to resurrecting a high mileage FJ62

I think it’s got a bent flange; or the slip joint splines are really worn. It vibrates at speed.
Did you get that vibration sorted out? I paid a lot of attention to the flange angles (xfer case vs rear pinion) to ensure they're almost dead parallel when I set my H55 crossmember height. First time in a long time that I didn't have vibration issues. ps: iPhone app "iHandy level" works great for this, although it seems easier and more accurate to get a reading by removing the DS.

Grey gardens getting some love and attention. I stopped driving it due to a driveshaft vibration.

The drive shaft came off my 60 and lived through being bonked on a few rocks and lived through the Outputshaft bearing getting a bead down as the original T case came apart many years ago.

So @samc2447 donated a driveshaft for testing and when I pulled the old one off, the output shaft nut was loose. It had unstaked itself. I torqued it back to 90 and re staked it and then threw the new used driveshaft in with some fresh grease.

Today I’ll burn the holes in the carpet for the seat belt bolt holes and take it for a drive.

I’m really happy with this truck. Nothing aftermarket really. It’s a time capsule for me.

It’s going to finally be doing wife duty. She may drive it to Big Bend over the next few months, we will see.

Needs a cruiser trash fire extinguisher mount. She says it’s not likely to catch fire, but now I question if he even knows me @CruiserTrash

Just got the rear muffler assembly ordered up from a local Toyota dealer in houston. I truly didn’t expect it to process but it looks like it’s ready for pickup.

I’m really excited.

Now just tuck that away until we have our stainless Y-pipe in production. Hopefully before summer. 😁
It’s designed to bolt up to the OEM muffler/tailpipe.

Oh boy!! This is 62 specific right? I'll shoot you my address, send me one now. Please.
When are we finishing your 5 speed?

I have to remind you once a year, you’ve been warned.

I really, really like that. You’re doing pure art.

Thanks Alex, at this point I am just the facilitator/Imagineer/organizer, my team really deserve the credit for the quality. They take a lot of pride in their work

Leave off the O2 sensors and you have a clean exhaust setup to fit a 3FE exhaust manifold on a 2F (except for the differences in flange thicknesses between the 2F intake and 3FE exhaust).

Easy. I have a good solution to the manifold flange thickness difference coming at some point too

Went together easily. It’s so much quieter now.

Videos up soon.

This thing is so minty and simple.

The exhaust has completely changed this truck. It drives soooo nice. I keep saying it, but the 3FE and the H55F is the best driving classic truck combo.

Took it to Toyota for a battery. $200 installed for an 84 month.

They get half way through and realize they don’t have a 27, only a 27F. Can’t install it because it’s backwards and we give up.

I’ll have to get them to order one in. I live in a small town and they hadn’t seen an old truck come in for a long time.

Oh that’s what you meant in your text.

93.84% of dealers can suck it anyway.
The best thing, in my “have I told you how humble I am” opinion, about Cedar Park, TX. is the Toyota Dealership. Best around. Their parts department gets it. Ask AJ @aljollano. Worth the drive.
