Maybe this will help give people an idea of what color this rig is going to be.

So here’s an interesting tidbit on the hood hinges -
When we first got the hood bolted on, the hood sat high in the back on the driver side. The hinges were from a different rig, as I had picked them up from @landcruisnman a few years ago.
In my head, the first thing to do that made sense was to try to flatten out the arch of the hinge to get it to lower the height. After two attempts at this, it became clear that it was having the opposite effect. So on the third try I went the opposite direction and the effect was that the hood came down like I wanted. I can’t really explain why, but I don’t ever recall reading about that anywhere, so I thought I’d take some pics and make a post.

You can see here the hood is sitting about 1/4” higher than the cowl on the passenger side. The driver side was about 3/8” higher when I started.

Removed the hinge and clamped it to my bench and made a measurement from the floor for reference. 40-3/8”

Added a third clamp in the center to hold the arm down. Using rags to keep from scratching the powder coat.

Used this clamp to bend the arm upwards.

Measured again. 40-1/2”, so moved it up an 1/8”. Left it there to try.

Moved the hood down 1/8”. Like I said, don’t really understand why it works backwards of what I was thinking, but there you have it.

Good color choice. Watching this build unfold over the years reminds me of working road construction during college summers. Took a long time to get to the asphalt and striping everyone sees. Nice work.

Thanks Jim.
Watching this build unfold is like watching the building of the Great Wall of China.

But, oh what a feeling when you get to pack it up and head out for the first time. All the while knowing you built and rebuilt every piece on it, know how it works and are confident it will get the job done. Or, simply filling up the gas tank and have a guy walk up to tell you "nice jeep" :) You know and we know, deep down it is nice and just tell him "thanks man!" Job well done.

Especially when you've obsessed over 1/8" on a hood gap! Attention to detail, check. No one else would have noticed but you'd know it's there.
