how does the limited slip work off road in the rocks? I'm tempted to install it in my rear 60 axle over an arb locker or drop in a 208 and a 14 bolt semi float rear with limitied slip in. I want something that helps in the snow and mud, saves the road manners but gives a little help in the rocks. I like how it works in my 2500hd but thats never been on any type of rocky trail or steep climbs.

You are better going with an ARB if you have the $$$. I am cheap so I may just weld it or put shims in it to see if it works better. From what I have been told the bigger the tire the less effective the LS is.

Anyone out there have more info on limited slips. Chime in.

Thanks. I'm just thinking it would be nice for sand snow and mud which seems to be what I find myself in quite a bit. I'm SOA on 35s with similar motor 350tbi 4l60e to the split case. I'm pretty tempted to go to a 241 or 243 and 14bolt semi float though since it opens up so many options.

i haven't checked this thread in quite a while but from looking at your wheeling pics it looks like you didn't bob it or extend the wheelbase? very cool looking 62 btw

i had a limited slip in the rear of my first FJ40...one day while wheeling the shims came out of place and all apart somehow and jammed up everything in the rearend and then my pinion twisted apart

When I opened up the rear wheel well. I ended up extending the wheel base a few inches. Normal for a 60 series is 108. I am a just over 110.

38.5's

Well got some 38.5's. They were free so I couldn't resist. Picked up the rims for $190! looks like I got room still! 40's some day.

Looks killer with the 38.5's on it!

black or maybe the same shade as the body to give a little contrast between tire and wheel without being too blingy?

NOOOO leave em alone! if you black em out they will look just like every other black wheel out there cause once they are black they all pretty much lok the same.

I'm glad you're leaving them. It's looking great the way it sits! Maybe paint the rear hubs a silver to match the rims. Did you really get a set of pitbulls for free!!! What are you impressions so far?

yes I really got them for free. The centers are pretty worn, but plenty on the lugs. I didn't have them balanced and they are kinda loud. I have some death wobble at 40mph. I am considering going with equal or some other type of balancing beads that go inside the tire. anyone have experience with this stuff? I have also heard you can use just regular brass beads for bb guns.

Just did my tires with regular BB's... I'm running Q78 bias Buckshots... I put 14oz in each tire and it made a huge difference... I know some guys that use airsoft pellets but it takes about 4 times the quanity to make the same weight... Just remember that with BB's you will get a nice "woosh" kinda sound when u come to a stop...
