Yes... I have an '80 and that is how it is configured. I was asking about the exhaust kit coming out with the header. The current exhaust is susceptible to being crushed (where it crosses under the frame to the cat). I was thinking that, once the header is on, I will need to take it to a custom exhaust specialist to get it routed above the frame, but if a kit is being developed for later models... I would be interested.
We hear you on the interest for this exhaust.
It does represent some challenges beyond the '78 and earlier.
We got access to an '82 40 that we can evaluate, but no promises yet!

Oh man, she does look ready!

I have marked you down for an exhaust for your 40 - thank you for your interest.

What PS pump are you running there?
It’s a circa 2009 conversion, sourced through @FJ40Jim, I believe it’s a 1987 mini truck pump with remote reservoir to a 60 series gearbox. Worth every penny invested.

to add to the PS pump question, is that a modified smog pump bracket? It looks like a mini truck pump.
That is correct, 1987 mini truck pump to 60 series gearbox. Pretty sure it’s a modified smog pump bracket, was done as a part of a full Desmog in 2009. Pretty sure @FJ40Jim was where I sourced everything. I’ve been very happy with it over the years.

While everyone is waiting for the new style DOWNEY Header to be produced, there may be those who have an original DOWNEY smog legal Header, but have since lost their "under hood" smog decal. Well, old Slicky here finally built another batch of the smog decals (for which I still own the C.A.R.B. exemption, #D-165-3). Decals are 10 bucks each, lemme know.

Will these headers and the full exhaust kit fit a 1975 fj40 2F with PTO? Also, what is the price roughly? Thanks. Sorry if I missed this info already.

I'm pretty sure a PTO won't work. The real estate gets really tight with all the extra tubing that composes a header.

You can see why I think it would be unlikely in post #314 of page 16 of this thread.

I thought Mark had the rights to this ? I think he posted earlier in the thread, so quick question. Who owns the rights to this header and the sticker ? Seems a very important detail for those of us who need a header and need it to be smog exempt.

Or does in not really matter and anyone can reproduce the stickers and what not ?

I helped Mark set up to continue to manufacture (have manufactured) the Downey Headers after I closed Downey Off Road Mfg. in 2009, and I gave him my remaining smog decals. Mark's endeavors came to a halt when his supplier either moved and/or required way way too many Headers to be built as a minimum order ???. I never had the C.A.R.B. change the Executive Order out of my name, consequently I still own it, and eventually it will be sold to the builders of the new Header.

Howdy!

I believe the header to be incompatible w/ PTO.
Too much stuff going on in that general location.

Decisions, decision...

@Downey answers the question about the CARB Exec Order wonderfully.

@gonzopancho purchased the design of the header and we are working on manufacturing the non-smog version. Stay tuned for details.
