I don't have many vacation days left but I could do 200 miles around Calgary if needed.

My wife suggests that the "baton" whatever gets passed along is something recognizable that can be placed in pictures from each leg, garden gnome, bobble head, hula girl, whatever, plus a guestbook.

She is however not enthusiastic about travelling further than the mailbox in an FJ40.

I'm on Long Island, NY and my 40 is not long-range ready BUT I'd love to meet up for a photo op if someone is traversing the NY Metro area. A picture of a bunch of 40s in Manhattan or on the George Washington Bridge (in traffic even better!) would be awesome. I can probably wrangle a couple more 40s from Gotham City Land Cruisers to fill out the crowd.

This is freakin' awesome! Can't wait to follow along as this unfolds. Bummed I can't easily participate... perhaps once this progresses into some sort of international affair. =)

Where's all those Oregon 40's when we need them?

Rich C (in GCLC and here on Long Island) has suggested that we add a Long Island leg to the trip. We could run most of the length of LI and meet up with someone either on the other side of the orient Point Ferry or if we go the other way in the Bronx or Manhattan. I like the idea of a hand-off in Times Square...

Long Island is a strange place.
Full on big city in the south, full on sticks a few hours to the north.

A times Square hand off sounds cool.

I was thinking more about potential New Mexico legs, to include sections of the old, original Route 66. Little known to most, politics played a large part of the significant, major realignment of Route 66 in New Mexico: Santa Fe- Pre 1938 Alignment of New Mexico Route 66

To get from West Texas to Arizona, with a potential northerly leg into Southern Colorado (from Romero on I-25 south of Las Vegas, New Mexico), it could make sense to go through Santa Rosa on I-40 (former Route 66), through Romero, then up over Glorita Pass on I-25, through Santa Fe, then down the original La Bajada Hill (still unpaved) into the Albuquerque area. I'd be willing to change my route to include the section from Bernalillo, New Mexico to Santa Fe/Glorieta Pass/Romero.

It might be worth a post on expo portal or pirate to see if there are any other 40 owners that haven't seen this thread.

'Portal/Expo' owners have good SAG vehicles. Never run out of coffee, LEDs or chargers.

I think GA Architect already has the Atlanta area covered, but sign me up. Would love to be a part of this.

Chris, I don't think there is a limit as to how far the baton has to travel from one leg to the other....maybe once it gets to here, we can run tandem with it or trade off and work our way around the ATL.

Hey so I got a quote for stickers - 3"x5" full color waterproof ink. 100 for $83 shipped. I forgot to add rounded corners so that will drive up the cost a little. But should be max $1/sticker. Do we want to do this? And if so, do you like the designs? Or go a different route? I'm open to suggestions. There is a 2-3 week lead time.

My daughter suggested a GoPro be part of the "baton" package. It would be SUPER cool if a time lapse of this whole thing were to be made - windshield camera mount all the way.

And maybe with some specific instructions for what gets shot ("Welcome to..." state signs, famous landmarks etc....)

Rounded corners makes the total cost $88. So just $5 more to the total cost.
