The batons have officially been transferred out of my possession and to @cruiserbarn. Alan and I had a good time talking about Land Cruisers and getting to know one another. Great guy and I look forward to seeing where these batons travel to now.

Texas fellas be on the lookout for your turn!

I'm right in the middle of a move. :( I will try my best to be available to meet @cbmontgo , but I may not be able to pass it right on right away - we need to be out of our current house by the end of the month, and I'll still be busy for a week or so after that. Will do the best I can.

what is the Texas plan. I definitely want to participate.

The batons are now officially in Texas! I got them from Alan today! Problem is my 40 is in the shop now. I have had a Trollhole carb and electronic ignition. I never was smart enough to get points gapped correctly on the '77 oem distributor and I also never could get the factory carb dialed in. The easiest fix for me was Trollhole and they have served me well but now my truck is becoming unreliable. I have an ignition issue. It runs great for 15-20 minutes, then dies and will not restart until it cools down. I have recently found a semi retired Toyota mechanic who has 40 years of Toyota dealership experience. He said he drove nothing but land cruisers until 1982. I think he might be a Toyota Whisperer! After speaking with him, I left it at his shop for him to fix. He wants to put the oem dist and carb back on it and make it run like it should.

I write all this to say that it may be a couple weeks before I get my 40 out of the shop and be able to get the batons over to DFW. Turkey season opens April 1 and I will be in central Tx. Exchange could possibly happen weekend of April 8 if my 40 is out and Carson @cbmontgo is available. If not, then later in April. I think you will be fine Lee @1911.

any updates ?

Getting closer to me!

Quick update: I am meeting a couple of the East Texas guys this Sunday for lunch around 1PM in or near Wills Point, TX on old Hwy 80.

@1911, I'm not 100% sure that I'll be able to meet you this weekend, so it may reside at my place for a week or two. I'll be in touch.

That is actually better for me; had a death in the family in Denver, and I will be traveling there on Sunday, probably back by the following weekend.

Sorry for your loss Lee.
Timing will also work better for myself.
Daughter graduates May 27th, leg to Chillicothe is one day turnaround. Handoff to @4Cruisers will have to be after Memorial Day. @graham5david if you want to carry a leg across the southern route, your opportunity is quickly approaching.

Had a great day at yesterday's baton pass. Loaded up my 9-year old and hit the road in the HJ47 to Terrell, TX. Met up with @Copenhagen1 in his FJ40, @LXGXFJ in his BJ44, and @TylerTX in his FJ40. It was great meeting this group and my son and I had a fun day of bonding. @1911, let's touch base next week and see what schedules are looking like.

I'm always amazed at the quality of the folks in our Land Cruiser world. Such a classy group.

Sounds good Carson, I am still in Denver but will be headed by back in a couple of days.

Hey everyone, Im just catching up on this thread and was wondering if there are still any Dum-Dum suckers left in the red baton (toolbox)?? If it is running low the good folks at Spangler Candy Co. here in Bryan Ohio have offered to ship out a replenishment of suckers so just let me know. I'm glad to see this is still going strong. Cheers!

Plenty of Dum-Dums still in the red tool box. I just passed the batons to Carson @cbmontgo last Sunday. That is damn nice of the Spangler candy company to offer though!
