I have a leaked in the 60 I bought recently. It is soa with 37’s. Steering is no issue. I actually ordered a new pump from cityracer before I found this thread. With the big tires, will my new pump last or should I just order the kit now and sell the one I bought? Thanks

Georg...there’s no doubt about it...you’ve developed one hell of a replacement for the overpriced and in some circles “underperforming” FJ60 steering pump. Your decision not to rush to market until stringent prototype tests proved successful deserves commendation. Back in 2016, between all the beer and backyard competition, you were considering a viable FJ62 option to replace some questionable OEM rebuilding oversite issues regarding wear groves in the shaft. Any further thoughts of going forward with the right side 62 mounting conversion? Again, congratulations bringing the Saginaw mod to a new market.

Long time lurker - finally an owner as of April. Had issues with OME power steering pump and found this thread. Reached out to Georg who super helpful. Got the kit and installed during my overhaul:

Thanks for the order and kind words! Please let us know if you need anything else for your cruiser.
Happy to help!

FWIW, we now supply the SAE fitting for the factory HP line with the kit at no extra cost. We also offer an already modified HP line for $79.

Hello Georg,

Finally getting to installing my kit! Super excited to finally stop my FJ60's hemorrhaging! I'm currently in the middle of my install. I've got my bracket modified, which was super simple, and waiting for the paint to dry. I didn't receive the fitting for the factory high pressure line. Do you happen to know what size it is? I'm assuming that I need to know the fitting O.D., as well as the O.D. of the factory high pressure line. Hopefully NAPA will have the fitting that I need, so I can get this buttoned up this evening.

Thanks much,
Nik

Oh, also, I popped the cap off my Toyota PS reservoir, and glued the 3D printed piece that I received from 4wheelfever into it with some two part epoxy, then glued that piece onto my new Saginaw reservoir cap! Super stoked for that little pice of the project! I really like that the Toyota cap will still be there. Will make it a bit more original appearing.

Anyway, I'm super excited to get this swap done! Thanks!

If there is a video install I would give it a shot.
Its not difficult. Everyone is wanting a video, or detailed instructions. Its a remove, cut a tab off of your bracket, grind in one more spot, then bolt it all back up after the paint dries. Including replacing lines, I was into this job 45 minutes, plus the wait time for paint to dry! It's NOT difficult! You don't even need the pictures posted earlier in the thread. You cut and grind where the new pump interferes with the bracket.

Ordered.

Hey @orangefj45 have you ever seen a sag pump leak here? My PO installed your kit. I had a belt squealing so @HemiAlex adjusted the alternator while I pulled on it to tension the belt. I guess I ate my wheaties that morning because the pump started hemorrhaging ATF. Now it looks like the pulley wasn't pressed on straight or the belt was over tensioned causing a leak? Maybe the pump was on it's way out and it just hadn't leaked yet because the belt wasn't tensioned enough? Planning on swapping in a new pump this week.

Looks like the pulley is “off” slightly so you might have a bad bearing at the front of the pump?
I’d say replace it.

Are sagninaw pumps of that vintage bushed or do they have bearings?

I had a heck of a time getting a GM type 2 pump with a bearing in it. I would assume only the HD truck and corvette pumps would have a bearing.

I doubt the mighty 2.1 liter Volvo that this came from would have anything but a bushing.

Hi sag folks! Anyone tried this on a 2H or 12HT engine? Or a 2LT engine? I have several drips in my yard from these different engines, and thinking about a conversion. Not rebuilding three pumps, all are high mileage so I'm thinking shafts are done.

All done with my install! Thanks, Georg! And 4wheelfever, for making it so that my factory "Toyoda" cap fit on the Saginaw cap! Super excited!

So, will this take all the slop out of the steering? The 3-9 sawing back and forth?
