This setup works well for me since it's not a daily driver and it mostly heads to the trail on a trailer. If I were driving this every day I'd get the other model Bilstein that has stiffer valving at all 4 corners. But for trail and bombing down dirt roads it works good and soaks up the whoops well.

EHH, Should have gone 37's:flipoff2: Still looks good though.

Looks like he would have had to get 17" wheels to go 37's Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Why did BFG do that? Nothing bad about a 37 on a 15" wheel.:o

Those are some good looking tires. I'm interested to see how those things wheel out here cause those are on my consideration list when my current tires wear out.

What are the specs on that set of beadlocks?

15X10 MRT's with 3.5 backspace.

meh. I will wheel this truck ANY place you wheel yours and not cry when (or if) it breaks :flipoff2:

bffffff should have gone 54s.

need more sawzall for that :D

thanks for the input.

not sure why either. I would have just eaten it and bought them if they did.

It looks like you still have plenty space there ..

definately lots of real estate for sure. hope they will settly with more weight of bumpers, spares, etc once it is done.

Hopefully will be done by the 18th. It will be close for sure!

Well logged some more hours today. Had to stop mid-day to run kids to Dr appointments but made headway for sure.

Lets build a front axle. Friends stopped by. First Marlin:

Then Bobby:

Drivers side buttoned up. No backing plate mod:

Wrapping up passenger side:

More help from mini me:

014-2.jpg

Busted 2 pitman arm pullers so this is as far as I got with steering:

017-1.jpg

Rebuilding brake calipers. The more you get into these builds this is where time and money starts to add up:

015-2.jpg

Check it out crackers. A bit tall but am hoping it settles with some more weight and time on the spring packs. If not then I will start pulling leafs to get it to come down:

Next up is install brakes, rear driveline, shocks, trac bar and wheel it.

One more week? I hope so. I am already tired and this week is going to be very busy with work and family committments.

Looking good Clint, Looking forward to seeing it in person.

Remind me not to put my cruiser next to yours. I don't want it to be jealous.

:princess::cheers::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce2::confused: Thats from my daughter.

FAAAAAWWWWK YEEEEEAH!
Looks awesome!
For the pittman arm, you might wanna try putting some good tension on it, spray it down with some blaster and leave it sit over night. This is what I had to do after breaking a puller as well. Also, a picklefork works awesome too to assist the process. I ALWAYS carry a picklefork with me on the trail too. I just love those things.
It actually saved my ass on Deer Valley last year when my Pittman arm snapped...I used to to break the rod ends on my set up, and also had to BORROW Calicruisers pittman arm to get out, so it really made an impact on an already bad day.
Things will settle in on that. It may also seem sky high since youre not used to it too. Once you test the limits on it, youll wonder how you ever wheeled without it SOA.
That is truly an amazing mod for these rigs.
Youre SOOOOO gonna love it!

X2. It will come down from just driving around the block since the suspension hasn't really cycled yet. Once you work it a little on the trail it'll settle. Hope it makes it to the clean up on the 18th!

man that this is sick, for the pitman you might try a gentle tap (understatement) on the pitman with the puller on it. I'm sure some might say this could damage the gear set in the box itself but cutting could impart too much heat, plus you can take a little frustration out on it for breaking the other two pullers. anyways happy cruisn hope mine turns out as well as yours. Do you think its possible to post a cost summary to give us who plan on something similar, a rough idea of what we are looking at. I know not everyone will want to do the exact same thing, it would just be nice to see.

to hammers and the puller ( old locally technique ) hit the pitman with both hammer at the same time ( require practice ) and the puller making pressure ..

BTW still thinking there is space for 37" + tires .. :D

lookin good Clint... those springs will settle considerably. Give it a little time. I broke 2 pitman pullers too when getting mine off. I finally used a torch to heat mine up enough to persuade it with my hammer. I believe cursing helps too.

Thanks Josh. I am sure your truck would be right at home next to it. You on the other hand......

I have a fork but I don't think it is big enough to fit around the pitman shaft. I will take a look. Good idea on the PB blaster I need to find my can and coat it for the next few days.

How much did your springs settle? Any chance of a current side shot of your rig?

I hope so too. If not then we need to make a day to go out and flex it out a bit.

Thanks for the compliment. I did try the hammer but I shy'd away from the BFH for fear of damage. I think that PB blaster, heat, puller and BFH may do the trick.

As far as cost goes do you want what I paid or general cost. I ask this because I had some stuff on hand from previous work to the truck. I also have been gathering parts for the past year and some of it was used stuff. I can say that conservative figure for all the NEW items I bought has reached about $3500. I will add at least another $500 in ancillary items within the next week. I will probably cry if I tallied it all but if you want real $$$ then I would be happy to do so.

yeah I know. plenty of room just no engine to spin them! (well not yet)

I am hoping for a solid 2" on the spring packs so we will see. Thanks for the pitman arm tip. I will give it a try saturday.

The rig looks awesome!! Good work.

Thanks man. The work has been very rewarding so far. I am looking forward to it being done though. (so is the wife!)

So now that you have your wheels on, I have a question. I have a line on a cheap set of 15x10 wheels with a 2.5" backspace. Yours are 3.5" backspace, so do you think having the wheels stick out another inch would be too much? Got shot of how much the tires stick out of the fenders?

EDIT: Sorry for the wheel questions, but I'm going this exact route in the future. What about a set of 10" wide with 4.5" backspacing? Think they would work out better than the 2.5" ones?

Ive got the 2.5 in bs rims, same dimensions.

Here's a pic of the stance. Personally, I like it. You could also argure that it will compensate for some of the height you gain as well....

I remember asking you a similar question before, but I could have sworn you were running an 8" wide rim.
