Clint,
If the Pickle fork you have is not wide enough to fit around the diameter of the spud shaft on the steer box, you could go to the side...or just use one side of the fork, and beat it down that way.
It wont be even pressure, but it will un seat it.
Just something to try...

Here is a side shot taken last fall.

I remember asking you a similar question before, but I could have sworn you were running an 8" wide rim.

Looking through Keith's thread he posted 15X10 with 2.5 BS. I would say if you can get a good deal on them then they will be fine. The extra inch will help with some stability and it really does not stick out that far.

here is a rear shot of mine 3.5 BS:

Sweet!! Or as you say it FAWK YEAH!! I think your stance is perfect. I have had 3 or 4 people tell me to relax as it well settle at least 2" and probably more when it gets wheel hard.

thanks for tip on the fork. I will give that a try as well.

I wish I had an update other than sending off the front driveline but that is all for now. I am stuck at work for the next 2 days.

So now that you have your wheels on, I have a question. I have a line on a cheap set of 15x10 wheels with a 2.5" backspace. Yours are 3.5" backspace, so do you think having the wheels stick out another inch would be too much? Got shot of how much the tires stick out of the fenders?

EDIT: Sorry for the wheel questions, but I'm going this exact route in the future. What about a set of 10" wide with 4.5" backspacing? Think they would work out better than the 2.5" ones?

also forgot to add you will not fit a 4.5" BS wheel on your rig without spacers. just run a 2.5 or 3.5 wheel.

Its funny comparing the pics, the height difference between your rig and mine with essentially the same set up how MUCH those springs HAVE settled over the past 3 years. Yours looks much more PROUD.:D

Well, I'll tell you, this thread makes me want to take my 62 over.

That seriously looks great

it is definately standing at the ready.

thanks for the compliment. hopefully it will perform like it looks!

did Bill make it over?

he did. I will do some test fitting tomorrow when I get home. thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. When is the next build day and how is the ankle feeling?

Clint

my exhaust dumped right by the shock that's why one is kinda black... they should work nicely for ya though. Ankle is doing pretty well... I plan on getting out to the garage tomorrow. I really want to get the front end all finished up.

Clint- they cleaned up nice! Awesome progress.

What grease did you use up front? I was going to mention the Amsoil HD purple stuff I've been using and like. But then it's just more money to spend...

Hey, wow! Someone's selling 37s for some reason! :D

If you can, park it fully flexed in one direction overnight then swap it the other direction for another night. Ditches are good for that. Helps settle the springs and gets them ready to flex.

No worries I am sure they will clean up just fine. They look like new anyways! Good luck with the ankle. Give me another week to work out the bugs and I can give you another day if you need it.

I really like that truck. If it was able to carry a family of four in the cab then the 60 would be gone. (ok just parked on the side of the house).

I will double check the grease but off the top of my head it is Valvoline GM all purpose stuff. I have used this stuff for about 8 yrs now and it has never failed me. Reasonable price and always available both in tubs and tubes at the local Napa.

Ken if I could have swung those 37's then you know I would have. I do really appreciate the beadlocks and it's amazing what a $4 can of spray paint can do for asthetics!!

Thanks for the tip on the ditch park trick. No ditches close by to just leave the truck for some gutter punk to vandalize so it will make it's way to Metal Tech for a little fork lift duty later this week!

Got a few hours on the truck today. I am fighting the weather, being tired from lack of sleep and issues with the wire feed on the welder. I did manage to mock up and tack up the shocks and brakes.

Tomorrow will be a good day with some help from my brother-in-law with finishing all the loose ends. Plus I was able to sort out the wire feed issues so the welds will actually look decent.

I ended up with 2* tilt in and 4* tilt back on the shock angles. I would have to pursuade the inner fender a bit more and cut/ weld the tower to get a bit more angle. I am going with this for now and if it needs to be re-done jump into it as I have an extra set of towers and lower mounts.

I ended up with 10" travel rear shocks in a swap from Brokenparts. I just could not get the 12" to work without a ridonculous angle.

I also am not totally impressed with my brakeline skills but it is what it is.

More tomorrow. Hopefully a road test and hopefully a trip to Metal Tech to cycle the suspension and double check shocks, angles and clearance.

Bonus today was getting the pitman arm off!! I did the heat, apply pressure, heat, apply pressure mode about 8 times and it slid right off.

feeling tired as hell with the light at the end of the tunnel keeping me sucked in...

Heh, I was up at MT today to cycle the suspension for driveline lengths. I learned two things. I noticed an inverted shackle (thought it was because one of my shocks was off!), and SUA doesn't really need cycling on the forklift. :D

You really only need the static length because the suspension doesn't move enough to create significant driveshaft movement. A good driveline shop knows what to do with your static measurement.

I guess I should amend to say a 2.5" SUA lift.

Looks GREAT Clint!
Id love to find out how that rear brake line does when at full droop. It looks like it COULD be a little short, but it will probably be okay.
Mine is STUPID long, so I wouldnt mind shortening it up a bit if I could find a better alternative.
Nice call removing the gear box to weld the DS tower in. I did NOT do that, and it was a BEOTCH welding that front side in right next to that.
It all looks so pretty! It will almost be a shame to get the gear dirty.:p

I'm excited to see the surfer this saturday. I think you're going to make it! Maybe we can do a track bar build party before rubiton because I'd like to add one as well.
