Destin - With all the work you have already done - you will get this. Everyone is right. Check one thing at a time. Basics.

Unlikely you have damaged the starter - It can happen but I doubt it has in this case. Tapping the end of it often works a gem - you can do this before you crank it over. - I used to keep a mallett in my 76 when the starter was on its way out.

When you first started fuel wan't getting to the filter - Is it now? If it is good - Check the plugs - pull one out and keep it connected - hold it close to the engine block - you need some one to turn her over - look for the spark jumping from the pug to the block - Again if yes you have it.

Keep at it dude - you can get this part!!!!

Cheers Dobster

destin same thing happend to me and i almost freaked because just like you i knew the motor ran before i tore everything apart.

ended up that the battery ran out of juice and thats why it wouldn't turn over.. the starter was fine - i just had to trickle charge my battery to full - you could get it charged at auto zone too.

then i fixed my timing (which was my issue) and i was good to go

Destin-
Connect the battery to another running car's battery with jumper cables and then try cranking it over.

No biggie! Its something simple!!
If you were cranking the crap out of it (longer than o say 20 seconds at a time) without letting the poor old starter cool down you definitely could of cooked it.

Start with the easiest stuff 1st.
Bad connections at the starter/battery/ground can cause just this.

Battery new? Have it load tested at an auto parts store. Bad batteries will not hold a charge for more than a few cranks.

Getting spark? Did you have the distributor off?

I put a late model gear reduction starter on my 69. Not correct for my 1F but boy does it crank it good!!!

Put another car on the end of it, and jump it, then let us know what happened. My guess she turns over just fine...whether it starts is another issue.

Starter was baked.

I had my buddy with me (Tech) he beat the started with a hammer will depressing a remote start and she would only turn internally and not engage the Bendix.

Swapped out starters and she cranks.

Dumped some fuel in the carb and we had ignition! But no fuel delivery.

Cranked while placing hand on top of carb to create a vacuum and pull fuel, No go.

So I say pump is bad and starter will need to be rebuild to be reliable.

Thanks again Shane for your help!

Yeah i need a new pump to get this bad boy running. :D

took some shots of the driver seat installed, but they are crappy cell photos, let me post em though, seat looks dope!

LOL, That is all Destin, hats off to some one who woke up one day and wanted to tear apart his toy and not ever doing anything close to this. For gods sake look at the time line, he has been on top of this from day one.

Great Job! Nice seats too. I would bet that Mark A. could hook you up with a pump and a starter. I am surely learning a lot from you. I have started my resto ass backwards. Everything under the hood is brand new, but the rest of it looks like ****. I can't wait to see her on the road. Good luck. Brendon
