1-4 and 4-1 shifts have been pretty well dialed at this point along with torque converter lockup (manual and automatic). Tomorrow we’re going to solidify the 4-5 and 5-4 shifts.

The truck moves so much easier than it did with the 343. Off the line is greatly improved and how it keeps it in the powerband is fantastic. Really excited to see what the mileage gains look like with this unit in place with the superior control
I’m getting over 16mpg running 70-75 mph on I-25 in the pig, (turbo 1fz fj55 on 80 frame, 5-speed manual, 37s), and it’s running eye-wateringly rich right now. (Goes on the dyno Monday.). Truck weighs nearly 6000 lb without a driver.

I predict you’ll see about the same with the a750f.

And cool pack ignition ?

Yes his is coil on plug w/ an Emu Black controlling it
I know, I was drooling all over it a Cruise Moab a couple of years ago.
IMO it helps achieve the mileage he’s getting 😎

A750F is awesome.... Put it on the dyno today and got some amazing results

For Reference when we started this journey of the 1FZ turbo/A750 my 80 made 138 Hp and 191 ftlbs on a stock engine that was rebuilt by Robbie w/ 1mm over pistons. After Stage 1 turbo @ it jumped to 210 Hp and 290 ftlbs.

Recently we have completed the following work on my 80:
  • 3" Stainless Exhaust
  • Installed our FMIC
  • Completed the A750F Transmission swap
So, we did a pull in 3rd gear with the torque converter locked and while it took a while to go from 1000 to 5000 because you are never starting at 1000 rpm the result was astonishing.... 292 Hp and 416 ftlbs w/ boost peaking at 8.4 psi. Hard to believe that bump in power but having driven the truck pre and post it is certainly putting power to the ground much more efficiently with the new transmission. It floats down the road and is much less of a "tractor"

Great to hear the 5 speed working!!

So are you running a Stage 1+ but without EMU Black but with Compushift to run the 750?

What's the word on paddle shifters too. Did you install that in yours yet? Video if so?

Yup Stage 1+, no emu black still on factory ecu, yes with compushift controlling the A750.

Paddle shifters are still in the works, no video yet.

Currently shifting takes some mind rewiring but I am already familiar after only having run it for a week. On the factory shifter you have PRND2L and an OD Cancel switch so how do you get 5 gears?

D is automatic and shifts through all the gears as normal
If in 5th gear and you tap OD it shifts to 4th gear
Pull to "2" when in 4th or 5th and it shifts to 3rd (if compushift deams it possible)
Pull down to "L" and it will shift to 2nd gear
When in L and you tap the OD again it'll send it to 1st.

Also holding in "L" will only allow it to go to 2nd gear and if in "2" will only allow it to go to 3rd gear

It functions like the gate shifter in the later 100 series. 4th and L are pushes to the left and the right, respectively, that close electrical contacts and the OD switch on the factory 80 shifter does the same thing as the left and right movements in the 100.

Damn I’m basically at your stage 1+ currently…once I get the injectors and ecu in I can’t imagine how much potential will be realized…the 750 will be very needed

ok, so this is a really nice combo if not going Stage 2 but utilizing the 5 speed and being more efficient transmission for the power. Thanks for the detailed work. Love it. Are you getting slightly higher boost by design? And is the jump in torque from standard Stage 1 attributed to the 750 plus the 3" exhaust?

Have you dyno'd your truck as is?

We when I had chinese cats I tensioned the wastegate rod more to overcome the restriction and never backed it off with the new exhaust lol

Hard to tell but we will confirm before and after on a stock truck with a dyno run once we have bellhousings and a donor vehicle to be the first NA which may be @CrabCake or @RayRay27 for the 93-94 guys, 95-97 idk yet

No sir…probably won’t see a dyno until it’s ecu tuning time…

would be interesting to know your before, after ecu and after transmission
For sure…fmic keeps temps well behaved…3” exhaust gave me all the boost and flow…the injectors, boost controller, wideband o2 and fuel pump, ecu will keep everything in check and safe from self destruction…like I said the transmission will be the final part of the puzzle…

Any thoughts on what the improvements in HP and torque would be without a turbo or SC?
