Time to get a little ghetto with the wheel painting!!

Old trick from my teens back in highschool. Im really surprised how many people had never seen the card trick.

Dang... such a simple trick. Much easier than masking tape... guess I grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Too bad I didn’t know that before I went out and bought 6 rims for my other truck.

Truth time... they were dirt cheap, and most had never been mounted on a rig. I still need to paint them but for $100 for 6 I’d be a fool to pass them up.

Haha yah @bikersmurf. seriousle learned that trick 25 years ago. if you deflate the tires it works even better.

Well im goin in for hernia surgery tomorrow so i figured this was a good time for a little work bench project so i pulled the heater and will do a rebuild on it. Ive had the parts sitting on the shelf for a long time from another mud member.

Well not gonna lie this has been the worst pain ive been in i can recall!!!! Hahaha

Ventured out to the garage tonight after 3 days on the couch. Over did it day after by going out ot my daughters xmas concert. so i snuck out to the garage once the kids were asleep just to peak at the heater box for some reason haha. Looks pretty messey ontop the core.

So thats where all the foam collected....

*I should add just after snapping the pic i was getting yelled at to get back insdie and on the couch haha*

So my local rad shop is closed till the new year and i wanna flush out the heater core. Ive been reading up on guys using CLR to flush it out. I might give it a go dpending what you all have to say.

Sounds like just fill it up with CLR let it sit an hour then flush it all out. Simple yes?

So got a few minutes tonight to take the heater apart a bit. WOW is this this gummed up haha. still put out great heat im kinda scared not once its all cleaned out and in tiptop shape. In the 2nd pic of the main door it only has foam on one side and just those 2 side pieces. The others ive worked on had foam on both sides fully.

So got it all cleaned up and painted ready to go back in! Even gets the defrost to work most of the time haha. That dam spring is pretty tired. Anyone ever source new springs for heaters?

I tried to flush out the heater core with some CLR and it got alot out but i said what the heck and took it to a local rad shop. He said a ton a grey sludge came out he was sure it was stop leak and the core was gonna leak but it tested good.

The funny thing is it was never really cold. Besides the garabage foam on the vent door that always blew cold air past i could get the temp in the cab up to +23 even when -28c outside lol.

So i jumped right down the rabbit hole and pulled my blower off to clean it up and put new foam on it. It kinda looks like ive broken off the solenoid connections here. Can i just push them tight then hot glue them there or should i be sourcing a 24v one?

How the heck do get the motor apart?

LOL!!!

Yes thanks captain obvious! I took the bolts out but it was stuck because of the tape around it. I didnt want to start prying and wreck anything. Got it off and had 2 springs go flying!!! Took me a bit to figure out where i think they went. My only guess was behind the brushes to keep them against the coil.

Brett the springs definitely go behind the brushes. Good luck! It will be a test of your patience and ingenuity.

Yes got them put back was not too bad. Nerve racking. I have fat brickalyers fingers lol

So got the blower box all painted and partly together with new foam. My question is the gap i still have between the fresh air intake on the blower and the vent on the cowl. Should i just put another layer of foam to seal that tight to the metal?

2nd question is where the hell does this go? It was on my shop cart when i cleaned a few things off. Does it attach somewhere on the blower? or did i just set it there from something else.

kinda what i though bud! Seemes wierd it just appeared on my cart. I havent used it till i pulled the heater.

Finally finished my heater/blower rebuild and got it all put back in now that im at 80% after hernia surgery just before xmas!

Wow what a difference now that everything is all cleaned and sealed up again. Major velocity from the blower. Im really gonna roast in the cab now haha. Ill get some temps maybe tomorrow.

Oh and figured out where that mysterious braket went!!
