Cool Cruisers Gas Tank - POLY - 9/'72-12/'78

Has anyone installed this in a pre-73 40? On their website, it states someone installed this in a 66 with minor modifications.

I bought a steel tank from Toyota about 8 years ago…. That’s a better choice!

I think if you use the search function you'll find most post are about fuel smells and replacing poly and plastic tanks.

Yes and you can

I have a poly tank in my 77. It was in it when i bought it. A metal tank is on my list. The poly tank throws the gas gauge off by 1/3 of the tank which is irritating. It is worth the extra to have the proper tank with the extra capacity. I think it’s about 4 gallons bigger.

Why not just install the proper tank?
The later tank is less capacity.

I think I found a good used tank. Looking into a tank liner for extra protection.
