A long journey starts with a single step....

Never even drove a FJ55; however, I find myself here today. My wife that has put up with my land cruiser addiction, patiently watching my 40 build (old blue), then 80 build (FOO), then a few more 80's (LEXI, then Boost), then another 40 (Utah), father son build (Yoda) then a 75 (VZ hell) followed by the 73(Inigo), the FTOY and now my 45(Vera). -- wow, that seems like a lot now that I typed it all out... she voiced a desire to have a piggie about a year ago, and the search for a non rusty one began.

@wileycoyote decided to part ways with some pigs and after struggling with shipping, they finally ended up in our driveway.

The plan is to use an 80 series frame/axles and either a 100 series driveline, or an 80 driveline on this rig, so will be a long project.

Finally, about the name. My wife is a huge Pac-Man player from years past and the four were named.... Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Since suddenly there were four piggies in our yard, the name just stuck... so this is Clyde.

Congrats 🙂. Look forward to builds😉

There is a plan for all of them -- however, the main item is that @cjmoon is joining the piggie world as well with this endeavor.

Found driveline.

Got two running!!! Then we ran out of starting fluid. Third one was ready to go when we ran out.

That looks like it was a nice 470! What year?
2000. Texas rig so almost no rust as well.... driver side hit a tree, and tweaked the frame as well, so will be a great donor. @cjmoon got me a decent radiator to use, so got it running to temp and it sounds pretty good now. We thought there was an engine issue; however, clearly sounds great now.

Got this from Australia, unfortunately, shipping was not nice to it

Is there a thread of parts that are still available from Toyota for piggies?

No thread that I'm aware of. I normally just google the part number and/or check a few sites like McGeorge Toyota and Partsouq.

I do know where you can get a NOS chrome grill though if you what another one. Also I have a set of NOS turn signal lights for sale in the 55 classifieds if you need those......warning though they weren't cheap.

Parts still available from your local Toyota dealer. The turn lights will need a different base. Does anyone have a design for 3-D printing?

Started to clean up the lenses. I found these on eBay, no cracks… Started with 600 wet sanding all the way up to 1500 then buffed it out to a shiny finish.

Thanks for post, good to see there is hope for the old lenses.

Yes, those turned out very nice. Helps that they were already pretty nice to begin with.
I have several more to do, some much worse, so I will post up pics how they work out. all the others had cracks, so not doing those.
