When you cut the long wires shorter, did you cut and splice the wires or cut off and crimp new terminals on? If so, what terminals do you need for these?
I would like to shorten my wires as well, I just haven't gotten that far yet.

When I did mine, I shorten some with new connectors/terminal ends from Coolerman and butt spliced others for the more modern plugs /relays.

What is a good pewter paint source? The cruiser corps stuff has way too much silver flake in it.

Any autobody paint shop will mix it up. They can put it in a spray can if you'd like.
This is what I did. I took a pewter piece to Wesco and had them scan it with their fancy camera. Not cheap but that was the only option I could find for getting a really close match to the older "Silver Tan Metallic" pewter color.
I was going to ask in another thread what the current paint code was. But looks like the T47 code is obsolete now apparently. Scanning a factory pewter does seem like a better option. I still have the turn signals in pewter. Thanks!

Yeah, all I could find was T47 for a code and the paint guy could not do anything with that.

I used my old fuel tank as the model color buuuuuuut I had my drivers seat out the other day and the underside of that would have been a much cleaner example color. You might check there. Here is what they came up with color mixture wise. I'd be curious to see what they mix up for you.

Awesome! That will be great to compare to and see what they come up with.

Thanks for bringing Clifford yesterday, nice to finally see it in person. I truly am a sucker for any 40 series from the 1960s, just love the classic look of that era. You have an amazing cruiser with a cool history. 👍

I'm having a heck of a time finding the post where I saw this, it was recent and search is failing me right now, but this appears to be a very good option likely avaliable from you local autoparts store.

VHT Wheel Paint - Ford Argent Silver

It was great to see you and chat about 40s!
Thanks for the kind words. It’s been a journey, just like yours. So fun! I want to copy your roll bar idea. :D

The roll bar installation was pretty simple. You need 2 complete roll bars with all the bolts and and about 5 ft of straight tubing. Hardest part was removing the brackets from the bent parts. Then it's all bolt on from there. Fits nicely inside the hard top and even works with a Bestop soft top for a snug fit.

Go to your local paint supply shop that mixes paint in a 2k can, they can scan any pewter piece you have and mix it into a can. Since its a 2k, its got a hardener so I'd recommend having everything you want to paint pewter ready so you don't waste the can.

Chase, does your radiator cap have both rubber seals in it? Early caps sometimes don't have the upper seal, since they didn't need to hold vacuum and suck fluid back up the hose when cooling down.

Andrew
Ok so I have been watching the coolant levels in the overflow bottle and it does seem to be going up and down. So I guess the system is working. This is with the old style cap with the thin metal upper seal.

Clifford has had a good summer. Hoping to squeeze in a few more runs into the mountains before the weather really turns and the bikini top doesn’t cut it. :p

what wiper arms are you running? also I am leaning towards putting a soft top on mine in the winter.... Still have not decided If I am going oem style or bestop. I keep leaning to bestop since it can be folded down for top down fun. But I might be cold if I do this.

Wiper arm info is on page 16- post 304. :) I am going to try 12” blades maybe. Currently running 11”. I noticed some of the old Porsche wiper arms may be a good silver period correct look and only about $30 an arm. I gave up trying to find the OEM arms.

I want to go OEM style softtop eventually. But Clifford will be cooped up this winter for the 4 speed swap so no rush on that. I ran a bestop for years when I first owned it. No complaints! Did its job well, and readily available.
