Probably read it about 200 posts ago when a Turbo was pure fantasy. Now that is within reasonable reach, I'm fully interested!!Obviously you missed a chapter of this novel![]()
That is a good swap. Motorcycle and extra car exchanged for a brand new, shiny turbo kit. All of my preventive maintenance is now done and am waiting for my kit to arrive. Cannot wait to see that big snail shell hanging out in the engine compartment.Well, after finally reading this entire thread, I’ve seriously come to appreciate the Uber ocd attention to detail Joey has put into this endeavor.
When I rebuilt the top end on my 80 last spring, my intent was for eventual forced induction, (having given up on the pipe dream of a Cummins 6BTA) and I built the top end with that in mind. APR studs, port and polish, three angle valve job, Cometic head gasket, blueprinting the intake manifold and lots of “while we’re in there” stuff...
Now I’m glad I went the extra mile.
Part one of my plan conclude tomorrow, as one of my motorcycles finally sold, now to sell off an extra car and then my order goes off to Joey.
Time to call my gauge guy and start buying stuff.
The ONLY bad thing about starting this thread was that I used to be cooler when I was the only one with a turbo 80! Haha
Joey, if we have the down pipe blanket, what is your opinion on the heat sheathing on the harness, etc?
Do we run both just to be safe?
Thanks,
Mike
Belts and Suspenders is a good look!Pre-blanket I’d say yes. Post-blanket I’d say it’s belts and suspenders.

I'm doing both DP Blanket and heat wrapping. Why? Cause it's cheap and easy to put on and it saves my engine harness. Joey's selling engine harnesses now so he's not bias at all. LOL j/k.Pre-blanket I’d say yes. Post-blanket I’d say it’s belts and suspenders.
