You really only need the inner cable, right? Could you maybe order one for an 80 and only use the inner cable? I'm using the whole 80 assembly on my FJ60/1HZ setup.

This.

@The Phoenician The 3FE FJ80 cable is virtually the same and works fine. Get one! There’s a thread on here with the Pioneer part number.

Accelerator Cable PIONEER CA-9013 fits 90-92 Toyota Land Cruiser | eBay

@cruisermatt , thanks for the heads up on this. I ordered one and will keep the other as a spare if the bike shop manages to fix it.
I love this community.

Yeah, I needed a new one for my conversion and was looking at making one of the Lokar or other Toyota cables work but the 62/80 pedal connection is pretty unique and I decided it just wasn't worth my time to make something else work.

Some people have complained about the Pioneer cable not lasting as long as the Toyota one. I have the FZJ80 version (CA-9015) on my 1HZ/FJ60 conversion and it is working great. Pretty good bang for the buck.

Installed the new accelerator cable. Had to do minor filling to get it to seat correctly. Let's see how she does on my way to San Antonio .

Nice to see you got that fixed before going out of town and having that cable break. Regular inspections are a great way to prevent future breakdowns, especially when something is visibly wrong.

She drove like a dream. Made it to San Antonio with 0 issues. The temp gauge read below 190* almost the entire way and she was very responsive. Big Red loves this weather, it's been in the 50s most of the day which let the turbos spool up quickly and EGTs remained low. I do have a slow oil leak that needs to be addressed at some point, but it's not pressing yet. From the seat of my pants driving, I can say Big Red has more hp and torque than our 2017 Tacoma.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you all spent it with those you love the most.

I drove Big Red from San Antonio to Houston yesterday and then from there to Austin today. No real issues but I can tell once summer is back in the 3 digits I'll be having cooling problems again. On the way to Houston the weather was in the 60s so operating temps were between 190 and 200 at around 70 to 75 mph. Today temps were in the 70s coming to Austin and I ran between 200 and 209. It would quickly cool down to 205 or 200 when i slowed down. At one point I hit 45 psi of boost in 5th gear at half the pedal to the metal when overtaking a semi ( it's never been that responsive before). I credit it to the new accelerator cable that eliminated any slack it had.

With the temp issues in mind, I'll be looking for a better radiator, one that can cool more efficienty and has more volume. So far my cursory search found this

https://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-Performance-Aluminum-Radiator-1981-1990/dp/B016L6NWB0/ref=au_as_r?_encoding=UTF8&Make=Toyota|76&Model=Land Cruiser|1017&Year=1989|1989&ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive&vehicleId=1&vehicleType=automotive

However I'm not yet sure this is the best one out there and for $400 I'd like to be sure first. Any suggestions or recommendations for an easy bolt in radiator that would work better than the OEM?

Decided to burp the system and tighten up some bolts and check on that oil leak.

Then while princess was asleep I ordered a new picatinny rail and scope for my marlin 45-70. Been having the urge to go hog hunting lately.

Are those ramps really needed? lol.
I figured I'd use any advantage I had to get the air out of the cooling system. They do make it a lot easier to work under the truck though.

The next time you’re in Houston, I’d like to see this truck!
