Does this look correct?

Ran into a hiccup with shifting the H55. Turns out it is common to lock up the shifting if the H55 has been stored on its nose.

Here's a write-up on how to deal with it: h55f stuck in gear

"And here are some pics to visualize what is going on inside the case cover when the shifter has locked in place because the tranny was set on it's nose. Gravity drops the reverse idler gear, which causes the reverse shift fork to jump in reverse... locking the shifting mechanism. The reverse shift fork can also be moved by hand if the case cover is off. Just push it all the way in until it snaps in place."

It's freaking hot and the dowel pins I ordered from Toyota are the wrong size. Can't mate the tranny to the engine without them.

Well, another surprise today. I was wondering why the H55 couldn't shift into fourth and fifth gear. Turns out the mining companies disable those gears with some tubing spacers on the shift rails. I guess this tranny has never been run in fourth or fifth gear! Shifts nice now without the spacers.

I’m discovering a lot of what the mining companies do. Some make sense and others are head scratchers.

Cim, I think it matters on who is doing the conversions/modifications. This tranny was serviced by Miller Technology. They seem to be a big outfit supplying mining vehicles. Check out their website. See the 70 series trucks in the background? :) Miller Technology | Products/Videos

My truck is from Miller as well. A few of the head scratchers I found were they replaced the entire dash harness but no connectors were used. The beefy wire was grafted to whatever toyota item they kept like wiper motor and steering column. They also use standard hardware so I had to break out those sockets. Fuse panel was replaced with breaker box which I may try to keep as I actually like that feature.

Got the turbo wheels back from Majestic Turbo in Waco. They cleaned and balanced them for me at an affordable price. John at Majestic owns an 80 and a mini truck, too!
