Kevin, I was lucky enough to meet Michael (@Bear) via MUD and he pointed me to you. BTW...absolutely awesome stuff you're doing. I'm in the parts collecting phase on a build I hope to start next fall (77 HJ45). I realize you're not doing 4 hinge tailgates, but my question is can mine be converted to the 3 hinge? I don't want to assume you're doing the rear sill, but if that's the case and I need to repair mine anyways, could I not convert it by changing out the sill with the tailgate. Also, any chance you're doing bed floors or know a good place to source one? Mines not rusted out, just beat to hell and full of Costa Rican mud :). I'll apologize up front as my 40/45 knowledge is limited. Just started getting into them this last year. Thanks, Jim

Jim,

I am making 3 and 4 hinge tailgates but not any other bed parts. I wouldn't know who to recommend for bed pieces but you could try Real Steel or CCOT.

Sounds good Kevin. I misunderstood the posts between you and Ken. I was thinking you only had one possible 4 hinge available. Thanks for your reply. Jim

I don't have any parts of the LPB bed for sale. In my garage I have the components required to make two complete beds. I can make those beds either early style or late style. That means I have both styles of front floor corners and rear sills.

Both of those beds are already sold and one is already paid for.

I do not recall whether they were sold as early or late... I will have to look that up. This means I have extra parts but don't know which parts.

My offer to Ken was to look into which parts I have that I don't need. And if the sill is the style he needs he could have it.

I do have both three and four hinge tailgates in production now.

Absolutely Kevin. I understand. I'm in no rush but will pull the trigger if the opportunity is there. please keep me in mind and I'll stay up to date on your thread to see how things progress down the line. Also, I won't truly know what I have to work with until I strip this truck down. At this time it's covered with a cheap Costa Rican paint job. I can definitely tell I need a bed floor, rear sill and possibly a tailgate. The 3 walls seem solid. thank you for your feedback. Jim

Look what arrived today! Outstanding Craftsmanship, Thanks Kevin!!

All the way to Vienna Austria!! Took a while to get there but I'm glad you like it!

Thanks Mike.

Kevin, Great stuff/Nice work. Putting together an order, sending you a pm. On that pillar mount gage cluster can that be flipped over and fitted for a RHD just as well?

Got your message Jay, thanks!

As for the gauge pod... It is not universal but I can make a mirrored part that works when mounted to the right side for rigs from down-unda. Not a big deal.

I was thinking of getting an RTT for my '75 40, but I have been concerned with the additional weight on top making an already high CG vehicle even more tippy. What's been your experience? Thanks

I did Moab my first time with the RTT on top. You could certainly tell it was there and I did get a seat pucker moment on the switchback at the start of Elephant Hill... the one where yer supposed to back to the next corner rather than turn your rig around... I slipped off the upper track and leaned over suddenly. I think I let out a little yelp but she just stood back up. I think porcupine rim was a little more hairy but my lack of power steering, stock gearing and all those ledges were as much to blame. Now I've got 4:1 gears in the transfer case and it's an entirely different rig. That's the best off road upgrade IMO, lets you go slow and easy to stop from being rammy.

I would like to purchase a couple of the headache racks from you and I was also wondering if you can make the rear cross braces for a fj45 pickup

Mike, I just saw this message now, I will send you a message shortly.

Guys, and Gals, I have a new more current thread going in this same sub-section and would like to use that one if we could please. It has new pictures and details that are not in this thread.

Here is the link ---> See all the stuff I sell right HERE <-link

Not sure if it's what you meant to link, but THAT link just goes back to post #1 of THIS thread.

Ever feel like yer going in circles?

That's funny right there.

I thought I was in my old thread cuz somebody had posted over there and I wanted to direct them to this thread. I think.

Uuuuummmmm, YEAAAAHHHH.....

I went 'round that one 3 or 4 times before I posted; just to be sure I wasn't the one who was off there.
