Sure thing. I'll make a thread/collage when the swap is completed...you know how it typically works around here (for some of us at least), months/years worth of work in 10 quick posts ;)
This is before/after, need to stuff it under the pig.

For me, it’s convenience and the fact that I’m eventually planning an H41/split case with no e brake at the case. So, learning about and planning for e brake disc brake calipers. I’ll keep this thread updated on what I learn and try on that front.

I've tried several different cable brackets and pull mechanisms for my rear e-brake and none of them held enough to trust. I finally gave up and put in a line lock. When time and money presents itself I'm putting in an electric pull cable like what Voodoo uses. I would start there and save some costly lessons.

It wasn’t pretty or fun, but got the job done. Went through 3 cutting grinder discs. I think lowes discs are junk. Now to start with disc brakes on the rear and move leaf hangars back. Done for the day.

Thanks @scrapdaddy for the advice. I’ll look into it.

Cheers

Any fabric-backed (most) cutting discs aren't up to tasks like this or any heavy cutting. I finally found some metal ones at Home Depot that did the trick.

So, been thinking more about the rear disc brake setup and the e-brake. Here are pics of calipers from an '81 Camaro with a built in e-brake mounted to the conversion bracket. They fit just like Monte Carlo calipers. I can't compress the e-brake lever by hand, so I took the spring out and measured about 3.5" of complete travel. Figuring in the space of a compressed spring, maybe about 3" of travel would be required for the e-brake. I measured the travel of an FJ60 e-brake handle and the max is about 3". So, seems like this will work if somehow the leverage of the FJ60 handle would compress two such springs. I'm guessing some sort of a pulley system could be rigged up to help with the leverage issue.

I've also been looking into electric line locks and am intrigued with this solution as a parking brake. There's several potential issues with line locks, but I think they might work well for as little as I use a parking brake. Mainly want it for off roading.

I would say wash it down really good with some Simple Green, and a thorough wipe down with Acetone, but not sure if it’s going to help much now. Some of the areas of an axle, diff, and knuckles are hard to get totally oil free, and cause some paint adhesion issues.
Fortunately the last time I did axles ('85 4Runner) I had access to a steam cleaner. I was moving forward with POR15; don't think I would have gone that route without the steam cleaner.
