Hello! Been in this section for a few months now and posted a few times. Finally found time to post a hello thread and will use this as my build thread.

Picked up my new to me 2007 GX470 in late December 2015. 105k miles, single owner and serviced at Lexus dealer most of it's life, even just got the dashboard replace. The rig is pretty clean inside and out. The only downside the timing belt was not done. Found it odd the Lexus dealer never recommended to do it, I have all the receipts and pulled the service records on owners.lexus.com but it has no mention of timing belt.

Before the GX had a TL but now with a 8 month old daughter we needed a bigger car. Was going to sell the FJ80 and pickup a GX but decided to sell the TL instead. Going to keep the 80 around for any hardcore trails and as a beater and the GX will be the family car, so keeping mods light... for now at least. Seems like a lot of ex-80 guys are coming over to the GX!

Haven't done too much with the GX since I got it. Had timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, t-stat, Toyota SLLC, upper/lower radiator hose done. Swapped out most of the interior bulbs with LEDs, Husky liners, and 4300k HIDs for the lows and fogs. Also hardwire and mounted radar detector and dash cam.

A moonglow pearl 80 - exactly what I had prior to my GX, and mine looked almost identical to yours. :) Nice to see this thread, I look forward to what more you do to the GX.

Nice rig. What brand of 4300k for the lowers and fogs did you go with?

XenonDepot. They're a vendor on clublexus, I've had a few sets of them on various cars and never had issues.

Got my tires and wheels on... FN f(x) Pro wheels - 17"x8" - 0mm offset - 4.5" backspacing with Cooper AT3 - 255/75/17. No rub so far but haven't driven much. Stock suspension for now... Also, plasti dip the grill and tinted the front windows.

GX is the next 80 in terms of wheelers since it is a better balance than anything out there. I may be biased. I have a built 80 and I am selling it because I simply don't find myself grabbing the keys anymore.

Yeah been contemplating selling my FJ80... it's not worth much though it seems. It would be probably best if part out everything.

About the only thing you will miss from the 80 is the crotch air vent. Had it on my first two supra's and the 80 but no luck on the GX!! Ha!

You might want to try and sell the GX (Oops meant 80) because the market has made a huge turn over the last 6 months. 80's were selling for $4,000 when I decided to part mine out and made the decision easy to part it out. Right now I can't find an 80 in SoCal for under $7,000

Where did you source your wheels? Also, can you explain how you got your service history from the lexus owners site?

Thanks!

I got the wheels from FN Wheels directly. Best thing to do is call Dustin and talk to him, he'll take care of you. FN Wheels

For Lexus dealer service history just go to Lexus Drivers, create an account, login, and enter in the VIN number of the Lexus vehicle. If the vehicle was serviced at a Lexus dealer the records will show there.

Got my Radflo stage 2 lift on from MetalTech! Rides great a much better upgrade over the stock suspension. Still need to raise the front a little and get an alignment but so far I'm pretty happy with the results.

Did you do the suspension swap yourself? Any reason you didn't go with the 2.5's in the rear as well?

Yeah did the swap on my own. Wasn't too bad, actually pretty painless for the most part. Hardest thing was getting the nut/bolt off of the stock UCA. I didn't think it was necessary to go 2.5 in the rear, plus cost.
