I simply wanted to say that this sub forum has the absolute best collection of thread titles on the entire site. Well done you pig stickers!

Sorry if this isn't tech but rather chewing the fat🥓🐗🐽

Thanks @D21FJ60 , glad you like 👍👍

Don’t really frequent many of the other sub-forums. Used to hit the 40/55 more for the blanket tech, but anymore people post crap that used to be frowned on for not doing a search. Times have changed I guess.
Tried out Pirate for a stint too, but if you weren’t running a blown aluminum V8 and tube chassis, you didn’t really have much to contribute. I saw a couple posts made squawking about “the purists on Mud”.

It’s amazing how many Pig owners still don’t know this forum is here. Most of the real contributors here rarely ever go to any other forums either

I own a 40, a 55, 2 62s (one completely stock, the other going together on a fjz80 frame), and 3 80s (92 and 2 LX450s, one built, one not.)

The pig and this forum are the only “fun” ones.

Pirate!!! I forgot about that! I still have a Pirate hoodie from back in the day...

I didn’t really have a problem with it, just wasn’t my thing. More into the wheeling to get to a great camp spot as opposed to wheeling to see how much abuse this triple cryo’ed, 680 chromoly, 48 spline inner axle shaft will take before it explodes into a million pieces and I have to spend all weekend changing parts until I get my rig out of this chasm we call a trail.

Definitely not a purist either, and you do find a lot of that on Mud, but not a whole lot in the IPPS. Good balance here.

Now just imagine a host of FJ55’s each attempting to make a run at some muddy hill climb - 31x9.5 skinnies sawing back and forth for traction while 2Fs bounce off rev limiters🤣🤣🤣

2F rev limiter = hoping your valve springs float before you break a crank.

I have several trucks so I am in most of the other mud forums on a regular basis. To me, the 55 Preservation forum is more of a community than the other forums. It's a laid back, relaxed, fun atmosphere. I think it has to do with the fact that we are all dealing with the same issues. The trucks are more scarce than 40's. Less mainstream recognition. The market has not been kind to them. Nobody flips 55's and makes money. Very few of us are trying to build show trucks. They all have rust problems. Parts are hard to find and expensive when you can find them. We are all just doing the best we can to keep our junk on the road. We all love our 55's despite their warts and we help each other out. That is what it is all about.

Wait a minute, you mean I'm not going to make money on my $5,000 investment and I'm pretty sure I could win a ribbon if I waxed it up good, right? :)

99% of my mud is in here. I was looking at Trailer Tech while I was designing one, but that project is off the table for now. Sometimes I go to Pirate because Google search takes me there.
