There is something about doing it yourself that... the learning and satisfaction. That beats a showroom finish any day. That said, it sure is shiny!

What did you paint your springs with? Rust Bullet? I'm wondering about keeping things slippery inside the packs

Yeah, I shot them with Rust Bullet. I am going to bet that I should have broke them down all the way, but then again, I am just building something to have fun with!

What all can you tell me about the Valley?

:)My rig is a 1973, in a thousand pieces right now. Blasted the frame, now getting close to positioning the Vortec. Mine is not at all going to be stock- nice rig you have.

Looks like you like to fish so you've moved to a great place. The Bitterroot is nice but don't forget the surrounding areas. The small local creeks are great. All over Montana, the Gallatin, Madison, and close by, Rock Cr. just over east of Sapphires.

Here's a link to some trails in Montana, many of which will get you to fishing spots.

Curious, what did you use for stripping paint? Soda? Paint remover?

I've got a blaster I've used for my frame that will also do soda, just haven't tried he soda yet. Not sure how much profile it will leave

Looks nice

I took my parts to a local shop that does some sandblasting, the frame I did by hand in my front yard. The tub and body parts all got sent out. I'm not sure what they used to blast with.

Local shop in Maryland.

I had my body bead blasted and it came out great, I was told soda was abrasive enough.

Pay no mind to the coolant on the floor.

I need to clean out the basement so we can get the house listed, most of the mess is Landcruiser parts! Putting the big items that I can together, staging the rest so I can make the most of my time.

I spend 6 months away, and look at how much progress you've made! Coolio!

New product for stripping paint I haven't used yet, but all my mechanic/body friends are going nuts about:

Eastwood Contour SCT® - Surface Conditioning Tool

Takes paint off quicker 'n snot and doesn't heat up the panel. Also doesn't raise a huge cloud 'o' dust.

Also, found a song that reminded me of this thread:

That windshield gasket was a PITA.
