The hammer is down, no letting up now.

That'll sand out!

Let's see how much sleep I lose over it before we get too crazy!

I'm planning on working it out tomorrow before the next coat goes on, or grabbing a sharpie and autographing it!

Leave it and sign it... Or, no one will believe it's not a $12k paint job!!

I walked out to take a look last night after I finished up some other projects, apparently with the glare form the garage door being open I COMPLETELY missed the inside of the rear quarter where the barn doors mount, both sides. Looks like I will mix up a small cup of paint and touch some areas up!

That looks really great! Yes, body work is a b*&^th! And a good paint job is worth the time it takes to do it! At the end of it all,
you will have the satisfaction of a job that you did for a fraction of a professional's price. Is it show worthy? Who cares, you are going to take
it out and use it aren't you??? I say well done, another feather in your cap for the DIY guys
AND to top it off, you shared the job with all of us so we can learn and be adventurous as well...very cool!

Cheers!

That is looking great and moving right along. At this pace you will be driving it to Montana !!! LOL

Looks great. Would you do another one?

I don't think I would try to tackle a build like this again, it has been fun and a great learning experience but I think I would pass on the body and paint portion. A full rebuild mechanically would be a blast, just no paint and bodywork.

Is it show worthy?

Not even close! I have found a few spots that could have used a little more paint, a ton of orange peel, and some funky stuff in the paint. I shot the single stage with my garage door open, doing so I got a fair amount of contaminants in the finish. I may be able to wet sand it out but I haven't tried anything yet.

Who cares, you are going to take
it out and use it aren't you???

That is the sole purpose of my build, something I can take out and enjoy for a long time, without worrying about the rust monster eating it away.

I can't even tell you how awesome that would be! I hope to have all of the painting complete before I leave, doubtful, but that is my goal right now. The biggest likelihood is that I put it on a trailer and pull it behind me and "finish" it up while I am there during my spare time.

Finish it, are they ever really finished?

Not bad for a first timer with a harbor freight spray gun. Could have been better, but then I would be afraid to get it dirty!

It is a FJ40, not a 69 Mach 1.
