SAE flare yes.
Again Don't count on me to be coherent..

Unfortunately those are NLA now.

Put the internals back into the disc brake calipers in between football games. Maybe not quite as pretty as the ones that @J Mack pulled out of a box but I guess they will have to do. These things were a bi*tch to clean up btw.

…and in the nobody cares but FWIW category, I threw away all my 10 yo+ Mobil 1 and Amsoil moly fortified today. I was still happy with the Amsoil product but it’s hard to tell the shelf life on grease. I’m a huge Mobil 1 oil fan but their synthetic bearing grease tends to leak out of grease guns, even Alemite guns. So guns are now loaded with these two greases. Of course the Kubota still has its own grease….just because.

….and many of you won’t appreciate this post, but that’s fine. Today’s posts are brought to you by Covid 19. We were scheduled to be at Auburn’s home opener but the :princess: tested positive a week ago and of course I have it now. Years of world travels, multiple vaccinations, and here we are. Ugh. Neither of us have any major symptoms but out of total respect for our fellow ticket holders we decided to watch from home. We are only 6 miles from the stadium so maybe we can sit outside and listen. 😂

Painting the last few parts so that I can put both axles back together. Was reading some posts on the rear drums and noticed that my springs apparently were not installed correctly. It can't make too much difference as my 55 brakes were surprisingly good. So one goes in front and one behind?

I have no experience with drums. The "instructions" I have found is to tighten the cylinders until the drum won't turn (as uniformly as possible I assume) and to then back off the cylinder (or should that be cylinders?) 5 clicks. Any advice from my more experienced brethren would be appreciated. Guess I had better get good at this given my 45 Troopy has drums all around. Wow, now that I think about it, between the 45, 55, and the 75 that's 4 pairs of drums.

Seriously though, I was probably a little naive thinking I could button this up at this point in the rebuild.

Any opinions on the spring orientation? Diagram that I referenced shows springs towards front of car go on the backside of the shoes. The '77 FSM I'm looking at doesn't address the spring orientation, at least as far as I can tell. I just asked the same question in a thread in the 40/55 section FWIW. Will report back if I get any input there.

Man, I don’t recall one way or the other. That’s interesting 🤔

Looks like the spring that is at the front of the vehicle goes behind?

Well according to that diagram it does. I am waiting on 4 new retainer springs for the hold down pins and will reassemble with the springs in that orientation. Not sure why I didn't order those when I ordered everything else.
