12 days until I hit the road and I'm already having a hard time concentrating at work.

10-days until I leave for CO! Can't wait! Got a few things to do before departure on the rig itself: oil change, ATF change, steering rack, wire up roof rack lights, adjust parking brake, install new cabin filter, Pin7 mod and install my RAM dashmount setup (all the parts arrived yesterday thanks to Amazon). For the trailer, I need to weld on the 4 trailer jacks, setup the base electrical system with solar and reinforce the tent rack with an additional mount for both awnings (ARB 2500x2500 and a free Smittybilt 6' awning). My lock-n-roll hitch setup is scheduled to arrive on the 15th.

Picked up a Smittybilt Overlander XL tent to replace my standard Overlander tent on Sunday. Guy in Dallas used it on one trip and the wife told him to sell it and buy a teardrop trailer because she hates tents :) Got the tent with the annex room and a Smittybilt 6' awning for $800!!!!!! Now I have much more room in the tent and an attached annex room which makes Jenn super happy :)

I'll spend 3 days above Salida camping and exploring before heading down some backcountry gravel routes to Lake City and over Cinnamon to Silverton (possibly via California/Hurricane if CoRd 2 from Animas Forks isn't cleared of the avalanche by then).

Can't concentrate on work now with the excitement building so much :)

So it looks like I might be able to join after all :bounce2::bounce:
Got an email that a spot has opened up and I have 72 hours to sign up. Now I had pretty much given up hope and haven't really prepped at all. My wish list is kinda long:

Essentials
Replace all coils
Replace serpentine belt tensioner and free rolling pulley
Flush transmission
Replace all diff and transfer case fluids
Replace cracked windshield
Replace MAF sensor (Engine hesitates when cold)
Replace Gas vapor canister thingy (strong gas smell and P0440 - Large Leak code from time to time)
Figure our why I get a constant drip on my left foot every time it rains or when I have AC on
Rotate/balance tires
Upgrade headlights with proper projector/lens (HIDs already installed)
Fix Catalytic converter shield rattle
Paint WKOR sliders

Dream list
Swap rear locked axle (it is on its way - expected delivery next week)
Rear storage drawers (we are traveling with kids under 10)
Camping fridge
Awning
Strengthen Factory roof Rack
SmittyBilt XL RTT
Dual battery setup to support the aforementioned fridge
Replace right rear door (dinged and scratched from previous adventures)
Adjust driver and left rear door hinges
replace door seals

I will start panicking now!
I severely under estimated how much of a pain in the ass AHC removal is. We hacked up lines and everything else and it was still a pain.

Had a couple friends helping today and we got the front diff out of the old and into the new, AHC removed, rock sliders off and only had to torch one bolt. Finished the front suspension and got the rear shocks out of the LX. One of the torsion bars refused to come out of the adjuster even after a large sledge hammer and air hammer. Thankfully Duc had a set on the shelf.

I worked from 9am to about 10:30 yesterday. Hopefully today won’t be as long. Need to get the rear e locker axle installed in the LX today, skids and rock sliders on, and I’d call today successful.

Here I am procrastinating on rerunning my coax for my CB antenna!...Should I be doing stuff like checking fluids and completely removing the rest of AHC components? Probably....It might get done!

Here’s a question. I’d like to know how many of you guys are running the torsion bar/lower control arm strengthening brackets?
I’d planned to install them before the trip but they have been back ordered and I will have this weekend.

Thanks for reminding me! Just placed an order of the same set. Should be here by the time I begin work this weekend.😌

With so much going on I’m wondering if I should just go without them this trip. My driver side LCA is a 1yo oem Toyota arm and my passenger looks great too.
I’m running Alpine Loop, Poughkeepsie with the wall, black bear, and Immogene. What do you guys think?

The what? Yeah. Don't worry about it. If you are THAT concerned, do an inspection of the area and look for cracks with a light and a magnifying glass (I'm not being sarcastic) or get some crack dye. Cracks don't just show up overnight, they initiate, grow until they hit critical length, and then they'll propagate (aka failure). The time between initiation and failure can be surprisingly long and slapping on the reinforcement bracket may only slow down the crack growth if it's already initiated. Cracks are tricky, and in this scenario my opinion is that you shouldn't stress about it. Unless we were seeing the exact same failure of the LCA across the board, I'd chalk it up to some low frequency manufacturing issues causing the cracks to start.

With out blowing up the HIH thread with excessive technical debate- I'll close the loop with the point that this was more of a problem on early model years; specific to welds in the LCA that were too short. I dont know if later years welds were improved. When- if -ever the LCA fails from this weak weld, you'll be riding on the bump stop.

seems to only be an issue on Euro spec 100's anyways... couldn't find a single report of it happening to anything other than diesel rigs

There was a thread on here where it happened in Moab recently, and send to pop up intermittently. Probably the reason why it's backordered everywhere currently.

Moab disaster turned best experience. Grandpas Garage!!!! BUY THE BRACKET!

I'd still not worry about it.... check for cracks, but don't let it keep you up at night. If I were to be installing a lift or pulling my tbars for something else, I could justify it... but to do the work only for these? No way. If that crack has already started, these brackets aren't necessarily going to stop it.

Can someone please fab some real long travel kits for our trucks already!

Installed, came with my IM tb's, had to basically beg my mechanic to put the on, glad I did.
