I have no idea what the dollar per gained hp ratio is over stock for the 2uz swap compared to the LS swap cost.
2UZ makes about 230HP without VVTi or about 270 with. Iron block and aluminum heads, heavy motor.
There's more variants of LS motors than you can shake a stick at, but most of them make more than 275HP. Lots to choose from with aluminum blocks, too. I put an aluminum L83 in my 80 and will probably have to pull spacers out of the front as a result.

Don't forget the abundance amount of aftermarket parts and availability of parts almost everywhere for the gm powerplant .

And let's not forget the overall freedoms with the ECU attached to the Chevy. There's a handful of "tuners" for the UZ ECU, and I ain't really keen on any of them. This dude bought the lexusv8 swap people that advertise on here's flash, as well as their 3d printed MAF tube which is printed off center and has to be notched just for the MAF to bolt in square 🤠 (I also h8 his choice of purple)

Whatever, moving on...
This swap came from a Sequoia which is one of the least ideal ones to use. The trans is weaker, particularly the portion with the overdrive clutches and planetary that needs to be swapped in an 80 series case. The ideal solution would be to slap a 100 series a343 behind the tundra or Sequoia swaps if that's what you're determined to use. The more ideal solution would be to use a 100 series drivetrain. It's honestly kinda stupid not to since the 100 series pan is pretty much the only logical solution unless you wanna spend a gazillion hours fabricating something as well as the stupid transmission differences.

There's also little dumb stuff like this; p/s fluid feed from reservoir on the UCK45 pump faces right into the air cleaner assembly
1000028641.webp

I happened to have some other pumps laying around and compared it with this Matrix XRS pump. Fitting looked like a match and perfect for where I'd wanna go with the res. A quick compare-o shows a good fit other than length of tube. Enough meat on the bone to grind down, and it's a perfect match

Views of the ps fitting from the top. I kinda have another idea in mind for the PS, but I do genuinely like this option and it may end up getting the nod, just not on this rig.

A/C comp is the same story. Looking like the 100 series is the way to go with it's more universal manifold style which gives WAYYYYY more clearance, like, ACTUAL room to work with. I'm thinking maybe an early SC400 compressor would be an option as well as they have a similar manifold.
100 series compressor (with shipping manifold plate for mock)

And here's the Sequoia compressor. Literally the worst possible choice here as it puts the lines right into the steering box, and it's getting tossed on marketplace since it blows snow lol

Looking at the manifold on the 1fz, I believe it will put the lines at the perfect angle with clearance and accessibility for adapters for ORB fittings. If not, I have a stack of Denso manifolds I've collected over the years from various things for this exact purpose that will get me where I need to be

So you're just doing this for fun lol

No, I’m doing this because I’m retarded.

EDIT: This thing is getting a hot air intake or the sequoia box I saved, I’m not wasting the time to modify the can to be shorter to use the stupid purple maf housing

Anyhow, the purple people eater is going to get put into use. I was hoping to be able to use the FZJ maf since the volume inside it was pretty ballpark looking from the engine side and the displacement is ball park. I’ve come across instances where you can use a completely different maf, but it reads properly… this isn’t one of those instances. I repinned my 100 to accept the 80 series maf and while it threw zero codes, it ran rough due to richness. Added a little foam and the housing fits snug, I’ll figure out a sandwiching trim ring. Would be cool if they printed a housing with threaded bosses

🤣 I was wondering why you were doing this swap. At least you're honest..😜
These swaps are great in theory, but absolutely stupid in practice. They just don’t package well, AT ALL. I mean, if you got t boned in a 100, and got a cheap roller 80 and can fab and roll the rest of the payout into the project, as well as have the room and time, and stupid emotional attachment to the wrecked 100, then yeah man, I get it! Anything outside of that scenario, this is a dumb swap.

One thing I haven’t seen people do (but I also haven’t looked very hard) is a VZ style exhaust crossover to avoid the dumb drivetrain side routing issues. There’s sooooo much room for activities

These $160 McChangaroo Sequoia headers also suck. The o2 bings have been welded into the kill the sensor location. Also seen in this picture is the dipstick tube. I know the sc400 trans pan also has the dipstick on the driver side like the 100, then UCK45 had it on the American passenger side. As of last month, there were 4 UZJ100 trans pans left available in the states.

It begs the question if it is better/easier to SAS a 100 or 2uz swap an 80...
I'm sure we would get different answers in the other part of this forum..

Holy s*** lots of good content, Where did the purple people eater come from. I have the vortex maf coupler but I forgot about the fact my non VVTI maf is the older round base vs the blade style.

So @WrongsideDaily I have a quick question. Is the blade style maf for a 2003+ 100 one of those occasions where it reads the same as the 98-02 verity? As I am having a hard time sourcing something like the “purple people eater “.

They advertise on here. If you get one, maybe have em test fit a MAF in yours, or change their file so it fits properly. And please have better taste than purple. The fact that they even offer such a tasteless color has me sus AF about the whole operation. Can’t get the screw in when the part is square into the recessed notch. Can get the screw in and it *may* seal, but it won’t seat. You could just notch it yourself to get it to seat, but paying for something that doesn’t fit as advertised kinda pisses me off. Especially something as simple to QC as this. Plus I’m already angry about the effing purple.

The question is posed as if one is a non cruiser owner and the answer for that person is simple; Import a 105, and LS swap that.

Well I wonder why I haven’t seen that on their site or that it hasn’t been mentioned to me as they have my ecu and harness right now doing all the wireing now.

Thanks for the quick response!!

Doing a harness for UZ into 80? Man, I’m REALLY curious to see how that works out for you. The 80 series layout is pretty weird. Hope you’re using a 100 series ECU, losing the pwr/2nd gear start functions kinda suck, plus some of the other little nuisances.

It should be on their site unless it was taken down. Again, I didn’t order from them or choose them as I have someone else I use for ECU programming and I do my own harnesses, this is just what was given to me.

powertrain out of a early 02 100 series, useing the 100 A343F trans and the 80 Tcase and oem log style exhaust manifolds. Useing the 100 series ECM with a little reflashing to make things a little more stright forward. Off the shelf motor mounts form Toyonly swaps, slee belly/rear crossmember and hodgepoging things togeather as I go. So your info the last couple of days has been refreshing that I am mostly on the right track, my PS pump for instance is out of a GX so the gravity line points to the air box but not at the headers at least lol.

I guess I just missed that part of thier website, I saw all the wireing stuff. I am not a fool but wireing is not a strong suit of mine nor do I have the time or a wife that would tollerate a "dirty ass truck parts" / wireing harness and 2 trucks worth of printed out wireing digrams scattered all over the living room floor for a month or so. Tim at LexusV8 has been very helpful, and so far has done a good job no complaints as of yet, but obviously its not running yet lol.

I need to put build thread togeather.

So glad I went the LS route. Lol

The dude that owns this tried to call Slee about the trans mount when I told him that it wasn’t just slot the cross member like he read it was and they told him NOPE 🤣
Not a big deal, I made some plates, boxed the center portion of the oem member, and ran some DOM tubing to spread the load. It honestly took me way more time than I wanted to spend due to tools. I got a bunch of pics on the other phone, it’s currently just tacked and was waiting on more gas to finish out and I just moved on.
