96 lx450, no electric fan on there that im aware of. like stated above, i bought the vehicle with the harness removed, so im unsure where a few of these wires go.
Oh whoops, I was thinking that was some gm harness

Hey guys, starting my swap. Old drive train is out tackling the toyota wiring first while I wait on some engine mounts to come in the mail. I was looking at this diagram Vortec Swap - Pin Out Sheets and it seems like the old ECU/TCU(mines a 94 so it has both) has no functionality left at all and can be completely removed? Does that sound correct?

gotcha. Yeah this wiring has me pulling out hair haha! nothing else on the swap bothers me, and normally wiring doesnt bother me much...there is just so much of it on this lexus though!
Do you have a and EWD for the Toyota? Sounds like no.

Yes

Looking at options for cooling. I want to go electric fans. Doner is an 05 Yukon Denali with an LQ9. I was thinking about ford Taurus fans or F body fans like other have mentioned before but then I found this. Seems like and easy option for the price. Anyone running one? Landcruiser Radiator with fan shroud For Toyota 93-97 Aluminum 3 Row 9197 | eBay

I used a Steel Nutz unit that has been bulletproof since install and provides more than enough cooling. Not the cheapest but I’m happy I did....

Personally, I’m running mech fan, but I’d rather run f-body fans over those included with that rad.

The mounting points look different that stock, so the shroud I made which bolts on to the stock 1fz radiator wouldn’t bolt to that rad without modification.

If you get it let us know what you think. I’m kinda in the market for a new rad. I’d have to make a “Jon Davis” logo to sit on top tank for laughs when I pop the hood.

Working on wiring. Am I correct in saying that everything air conditioning related can be removed from the GM harness as it will be controlled by the factory Toyota controls?
yes , all you need to hook toyota signal for ac clutch
for radiator i'm using stock radiator with mechanical GM fan i m running extreme duty fan clutch and with scoop on the hood my temperature is at 190-194 all the time

Thanks,

I have a 5.3 in my FJ40 and I'm running the stock GM mechanical fan but the donor truck for this project is a 2005, it had electtric fans stock and I wanted to try electric, it is always easier to go back to mechanical later. For those of you running the F body fans are they capable of 2 speed operation or are you just running them single speed?

2 speed. I. Wired it just like the factory using 3 aftermarket relays.

Thanks, Any suggestion on year/make/model to steal the fans off of that fits best? early 2000's Camaro or something?

I used a dual fan setup out of a 2006 impala that I grabbed out of a UPull. They aren’t going to just drop in though.

Stock 80 series radiator?
What are you using for a fan shroud?
