Thanks guys! I’ll ask and see if he ever took one off at some point 👍

Headliner time!

Took a few hours to get this cleaned up all the way. Some paint came off the header panel while I was getting the old material off, so I painted it with two coats of Cygnus white from cruiser corps.

I laid the headliner on the top and the seam where the two halves meet had a huge bulge in it. Took it back off and cut it down. I noticed it wasn’t even level all the way through. Very lazy work (in my opinion).

Waiting for my father-in-law to swing by this afternoon and get this glued in!

Man, I am wiped out. That was way harder than we thought it would be, but it was the sunroof that caused most of the headache.

I caulked the front panel earlier today and let it setup while I waited for my father-in-law to swing by. We marked the centerline of the roof and started laying spraying the adhesive. Everything was problem free until we got to the rear corners. There’s just way too much material there to not have relief cuts and lay it wrinkle free. Overall I’d give it a 9/10 install, and we were both happy with the final result!

Looks awesome, nice work as usual! Two questions - what did you use to prep the surface and did you use the adhesive CCOT sells or something different?

Thank you! The spray they recommend isn’t available to purchase in ca 🤦‍♂️ I emailed and asked for another recommendation but they didn’t have one.

So I went with this 3m adhesive: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MEBENM/?tag=ihco-20

One can is just barely enough to lay down one headliner

Thanks for the info @greenEFSI - very helpful! I hadn’t really thought about just removing the cap like you did, had planned to take the whole top off for a little while for fun but removing just the cap would make this a perfect winter project in a few months. I’ll see how long my current headliner can hang on!

No problem! I should have a youtube video on this project finished up next week. It'll show all the hard to find bolts if you haven't taken the cap off before 👍

Been silent due to the insane amount of time it takes to clean that old gunk. I also refinished the hubs and brake dust shields in black steelit. I’m just about ready to put it back together, just need to drop the third member and change the gasket.

Great write up and rig!!! I used 50/50 diesel and ATF in a crockpot on low. Does wonders to clean grime off small parts. Same concoction works just brushed on and let it soak. When painting knuckle bits, dab vaseline in bolt holes and smear on seal surfaces before paint. When paint is dry, wipe vaseline off. Saves a ton of time compared to taping things off.

Great tips.
Also, can't believe we haven't met yet...
