No rust isn’t horrible compared to some. It’s right at the point though of where to stop? I’d go further but trying to keep it on a budget. If I was going to replace and do a ton of body work then it’s remove all the glass replace all the seals and then and then and then. So trying to stay ahead of the bad and keep it going. Personally I would have left the rust left the paint and called it good but the wife wins out. We did a photo shoot with anthropology clothing acouple weeks ago with the cruiser and they all tried to talk her into leaving the paint alone also but she’s set on pretty so trying to do it on a budget and make it better than when I started.
It is always hard to know when to stop!

If the :princess: says she wants it a certain way, you are a wise man to listen.

Put pics in the Picture thread!!!

The northernmost part of California coming down from Oregon is spectacular, especially by the coast. Let me know when you’re coming through Texas, a bunch of folks around Austin.

Tucker
I got to spend a couple of days in Crescent City - that was beautiful! Ocean and redwoods...

There are some Austin folk on here!

@PabloCruise what part of Colorado are you from? We plan to come over from vernal Utah into dinosaur then stay along the western side and drop down thru four corners. Have never been thru that section before so going to stay on the western edge.

I lived in Steamboat Springs for 10 years and familiar with Western slope also. Anything in particular you are looking for or to do? Some beautiful areas to north of the boat.

Have you planned how your going to go east out of Western slope, KS or TX way? Could even hit I40 from NM. Lots of cool things along the latter route. Kansas east bound from Denver is a little punishing unless your into seeing nothing.

Vernal to Dinosaur will drop you into Craig, then Steamboat.

@greenbeast Just looking at maps was thinking cutthroat castle and Lowry Pueblo before four corners then stay north in NM into Kansas then drop across Oklahoma into Texas then down to hill country in Texas. Two Texas stops are wife’s family. San Antonio and Fredericksburg.

Couple options there as it doesn’t sound like going towards the boat is what you’re leaning towards.

Maybe Dinosaur to Rangely, south on 139 to fruita (good Mtn biking) to GJ then south on 141 towards NM.

Feel free to pm me with any questions around that western slope!

Take a look at SE Colorado La Junta “Bents Fort”.

My son who was maybe 10 threw that at me after driving from Brownsville, Tx in our new to us 2006 LC on way to Steamboat.

He had learned about it in school so right turn we took at Pueblo, opposite where we needed to go. It was great last stop on our man road trip.

I am in the Ft Collins area, on the Front Range/eastern slope.
If you run the Dinosaur to 4 Corners route, you will not pass near.
LMK if your route changes, it would be nice to meet up.

I’m in Grand Junction. This route confirms your stated desires and is very scenic paved 2-lane. An alternate from Rangely would be just west of 139 (Douglas Pass) at Baxter Pass. Moderate off road easily done in a day.
Great camping at the Colorado River State Park on the outskirts of Fruita. You should drive the 29-mile loop through the Colorado National Monument to Grand Junction with spectacular red rock canyons and overlooks. Another great campground alternative up top near the visitor center about 10 miles from Fruita. Hwy 50 south from GJ will connect to 141.
South on 141 will take you to 160 at Dove Creek, a few miles from Cortez. You could almost throw a rock from Cortez to the actual Four Corners.
DM me if you need more local info.

Getting started on some of the shirts for the trip

Looks like a fun trip.
I'm just off I80 in Iowa if you come through here. Wrench or overnight if needed.
