Wanted out of NY but 500 miles today and I’m over it. Camping at lake Chautauqua. Tomorrow is another day. Headed for Erie in the morning then over to Lake Michigan to see my great aunt I haven’t seen in 20 years.

Ohio was a lot of rain and bad road construction and more rain and some hydro planing and a little puckering. Cleared up on the west side and got a glimpse of Lake Erie. Then made our way to the west of Michigan for the afternoon on the beach and a little shopping in st Joe. A few walks around the neighborhood with my aunt point to every house and either who owns it or who owned it 60 years ago and how it was growing up in the neighborhood. Now have the cruiser loaded with more things and less space as we are transporting a few things from my great grandparents home to my brothers which will in turn end at my grandmas.

Crap St. Joe isn't far from me, my kids were sailing there yesterday for summer camp. Are you still in the area?
no we were just there one night. My mom’s side of the family is all there. Well grandmas family on mom’s side. They’ve been there forever in coloma. So stopped by for a night walked the beaches talked story and loaded up. We saw a bunch of kids sailing in the st Joe river in the morning as we headed into downtown st Joe for a little shopping. Figured it was a sailing camp

Thought I seen @scrapdaddy rig on the side of the road yesterday on the 136 in Missouri so had to turn around to see, turns out was just a long lost cousin.

Yesterday was a long haul. Left gunree Illinois heading north into Wisconsin spent a little time at lake Geneva then headed sw ended up on 80 into Iowa. Stopped at the world’s largest truck stop and trucking museum. 80 was miserable so turned south and headed for Missouri for slower roads and cooler temperatures. Stopped a few times along the way. Couple river parks and lakes. Ate some dinner in Unionville Missouri and headed west aiming for Nebraska. Hit the border about 10:15 found a hotel just shy of 11. Aiming for Sioux Falls then into minnesnowta and see if we can’t find the real @scrapdaddy along the route today.

Hit 10k miles today, in the beginning thought I’d do about 12k but thinking I’ll be pushing 16-18 by the time it’s all said and done. 44 states down 6 to go. We will be in SD tomorrow then up to ND. Probably jump across the border before dropping back into MT. Then Idaho Washington will round out the mainland. Cross the border again in BC and up the Alcan. It’s feeling doable at the moment. Seemed like a long stretch the first week now a lot just blends together as far as days go or timing of what days were what. Hopefully no more 15 hour days as the family doesn’t enjoy them to much. I’m weird and like the long days to see how much ground I can cover.
Will be glad to be back to the west with more open country and public lands. I’ve seen enough corn fields for awhile.

Drinking a beer sitting back for the evening at the badlands. 10,539 miles down 45 states. Was a nice drive for most the day tell I hit 90. Mt Rushmore in the morning then to ND. So glad to be back in public lands country.

Started out as a foggy early morning leaving badlands, cleared up as we climbed out of rapid city heading to Rushmore. Then spent the day on two lane roads into North Dakota and over to Montana Ended up at a small town heritage festival in Baker Mt. then a little further west. Aiming for east glacier today.

Spent the last couple days in east glacier fishing in two medicine and the middle fork of flathead. Some kayaking around the lakes got to see moose and sheep. Then took road to the sun over to sleet glacier for a nice morning drive. Was a blast to get off the road and hang out for a few days. Made it to northern Idaho and be here for about a week adding a deck to my brother house and hanging out. Stopped by the cruiser shop in sand point Idaho on the way in to check out a few rigs. Only two more states to go.
