Also, the difficulty my guy had was the raised stamped letters, round corners, and beveled edged. He probably just didn't have the right equipment for all of this, but hopefully not an issue for you.
Hard to stamp but easliy machined. We wont have issues with the geometry.

It would be great if you can also make a version for the grill with tabs on the back..

We already make an expanded metal grille backing plate for our FJ40/45 TEQ grille badge. I would just use that with the new badge. No need to add tabs or threaded holes.

So after doing some research and looking at pics online of this badge I realized that the OEM badge has some design issues. First off, it's way too thin and flimsy. 2nd, the letters are raised and not recessed/engraved. That causes them to stick up and constantly be dinged and scratched by tools or whatever is under the hood working. Over time the red letters are inevitably going to get damaged and start to look bad. Almost every picture I found has the red paint looking bad. Here's my thought. I want to thicken up the badge and then recess the letters. It will look better, be WAY more durable, and easier to paint (keeping cost lower). We can then properly polish the top surface and not worry about the letters. Here's my current CAD design. It is still the factory size and factory font on the letters and will still be red lettered with a polished metal background. Just a nice piece that wont look like a cheap add on. It will also give it a slightly more updated feel since modern badges are much thicker BUT in plastic. This will be solid aluminum. Will give a little extra class to the engine look. This is all based on my opinion and nothing more. Feel free to disagree.

I have a plastic prototype 3D printing right now. As long as it matches up to the OEM badge I have I will send the file over to my machinist and have him cut me a metal one.

The plastic prototype is an exact match in size. I will send the file over to my machinist and have him cut me a metal prototype. That one will need to be painted and polished before I post up pics of it so you guys can get a really good idea on the final product. Will probably be about a week before I have the final version back from the painter.

I like the design. The intaglio (that's your word for the day, baby) letters (as opposed to cameo) will collect dirt, and will require cleaning with a Q-tip. Not a criticism - just a likely reality under the dirty hood of an FJ62.

Being engraved keeps the paint from being damaged but you are correct that it also has more ability to collect dirt. It's a give and take. Cleaning out the emblem every few years is still a lot easier than trying to respray the red paint every few years.

Here's the prototype. It's not fully polished and it's just one quick coat of rattle can red to get the effect. The final version will get a proper high heat primer and gloss red engine enamel paint with multiple coats. This is just to get an idea of what it will look like. I was too impatient to wait for the new paint to arrive and I wanted to get a feel for the final product. I'm still working on the adhesive. I can go with high heat Kapton tape which is plenty durable against heat and bonds to metal but I'm not sure it bonds enough. I can also go with small tubes of high heat engine gasket maker/high heat silicone adhesive which will definitely get the job done but will require the installer to actually squeeze out a bead of the glue onto the back of the badge themselves and will cost an additional $7 for the small tube of adhesive. That is the best route but I'm not sure buyers want the extra hassle of doing the adhesive themselves.

That is fantastic. If it means anything, I don’t at all mind at all doing the adhesive myself, if it means getting the best bond.
