Now that you wrote down every little bit you spent on her, did you bother to write down all the fun and good times you had in her? Without that your cost/benefit calculation is in the toilet and you should immediately spend another 8 dollars on couple of gallon of gas to burn it!

Reading this makes me feel better about the choice I'm about to make. I've looked at several 80's through the years, really wanted a locked one for myself, but I don't really need one. My pickup is a great daily driver, and I really want to get my 40 all in top shape again for fun. But I have always wanted an 80 in the stable. There is a local one in town, a 97, 126K miles and they want a little over $6K for it, no lockers. It has some cosmetic issues, the CEL is on, and the brakes seem a tad weak, but I think I may pull the trigger on it. I want something bigger and better for my wife to get to town, as we have 5 miles of snowy roads in the winter.

I was worried about cost of ownership and the necessity of it, but really, deduct the original price, and such, it will actually be a pretty affordable vehicle for us for years to come. I guess I can't complain, I drove a 40 and a 60 for years, they are not cheap to keep on the road either.

Especially now :flipoff2:

in YOUR case, a diesel would have made sense ...

too bad this isn't in chat, i could have fun with this thread.

WOW!!! Agree with others that is to depressing to figure up. You must be the original owner if your first tank was only around $1.30 a gallon cause the last time I remember it being that low was around '98ish. :D

The first time I gassed it was in November 1993.

Just want to say, I'm impressed with CruiserDan and these statistics.
