So on a whim I went thru whatever records I could find. The problem is the Texaco card (which became a Shell Oil card) was used for multiple vehicles. So that was fruitless. So just doing quick calculations and a liberal dose of approximation gets me here:
Purchased the truck new in late 97. Currently has 312k miles. In 1997 the average price of a gallon ran about $1.99/ga for premium. If I were to average from 1997 to 2012 that gets me to $3.46/ga. I've been averaging 14MPG since nearly day one. From there I get 312,000 / 14 X 3.45 gets me to $76,885 just in gas!!!!!
My total out the door cost of the LX was just above $57k with taxes and all. This puts me at around $133k and that is before insurance and ANY maintenance and ANY modifications!
Should have got a Honda Civic.
