Oh goody, more rust holes!

The parts of this I can't see yet:
1) how to ensure everything is absolutely lined up properly when reassembling, so many layers and pieces to get right that build off one another.
2) having all these now bare exposed and sandblasted parts properly coated rust proof prior to welding, being able to weld them and somehow remaining rust proof after welding.
I'm aware of the weld through primers, I have to imagine there's something else more substantial that will go on here..?
3) curious what is going to happen with the rest of the truck build for this level of body restoration. Concours OEM, custom?

Waiting, watching and learning.
fully entertained, thank you

Thanks!

I will build a platform that is accurate to the dimensions of the floor heights so that I can assemble it in the order I disassembled it, mostly. That will give me a "level" and exact foundation to start from. Checking measurements along the way too. Once the majority of this is back together, lining up drilled out spot welds really assures much of alignment even though I will check fitment along the way also.

Im planning to spray everything with 2 coats of epoxy primer. I will remove the epoxy where weld seams are located and spray weld-through primer there, in the same color as the epoxy of course. Once paint is completed, cavity wax will be thoroughly coated throughout.

I think its a driver? Not sure.

Im really excited about painting the underside of this though. I love it when the underneath of vehicles are painted nicely.

Well the rest of the build is in my signature line. Trying for OEM restoration but that's an elusive beast. You can probably skip the first half of the posts if you want to get to the meat of the actual restoration.

Edit: Disassembly commenced at the end of December 2024, post 604. Just FYI to save you some time.
